City Park is my favorite park. In the entire world. I have loved it all of my life. My grandmother used to take us here when we were kids to ride the carousel and play in Storyland. I have some amazing memories of playing and laughing with my sisters here and some amazing memories of my grandmother helping us feed the ducks.
The beautiful oak trees are hundreds of years old and the best spot in the city to sit under and read a book. Or if exercising appeals more to you, there are miles and miles of trails to jog, walk or bike along.
My favorite part of the park these days is the Botanical Garden. It is my little slice of heaven. A great place to clear your head in the midst of lovely roses, azaleas, palms, water lilies and camellias.
City Park is wonderful and you should definitely visit it! Don't forget your camera!Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0 - 124321463964Jun 20, 20241 check-in
City Park is absolute gorgeous and huge. I've been there twice and both times, I've had an extremely unique experience because of being in different parts of the park. I recently rented bikes from Wheel Fun to ride around, but I didn't love the immediate area around the rental as much as I loved some of the other parts, especially with the hanging trees.
It's an uber or train car away from Bourbon Street, but it's not far at all and worth the visit.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jun 2, 20241 check-in
My daughter was insistent that we go to City Park. It actually accomplished two things, first we got to ride the streetcars in New Orleans and second, we got to walk several miles and enjoy the amazing park!
Gorgeous Park and it is huge, so wear your walking shoes. I feel like this is the place where there is something for everyone. It was a lovely day with warm weather, 92° with 62% humidity, but my crew went hard.
I love that they have a Cafe Du Monde in the park so you can still get delicious beignets while skipping the line. The children's amusement park looked like a great place for people with kids looking to get them out of the typical New Orleans life without having to go far.
If you are a visitor, don't miss the City Park. For the record (we looked) it is larger than Central Park, in New York, and it has more to do/see, not taking anything away from Central Park, just saying!Helpful 12Thanks 7Love this 14Oh no 0 - Apr 28, 2024
Yelp Review 2024 #58:
A nice place to visit for free! Lots of things to see and do. Located on acres upon acres of land - you can relax, walk around, run, fish, birdwatch, people watch, paint, meditate, have a picnic, take your kids to the playground/ amusement, take your dog to the dog park (City Bark), visit the botanical garden or the sculpture garden or the art museum. You can easily spend a whole day here.
I walked around to see Popp's Bandstand, greenery, bridges, ducks, and outdoor sculptures. The only problems were there were mosquitoes and it also rained but I had an umbrella. But nothing protected me from the mosquitoes. I had intended to spend at least half a day here but I had to take the L and walk away from mosquitoes after getting welts the size of dollar coins.
I didn't get to go to the art museum which probably would have been the smarter thing to visit since it's indoors and mosquito-free. But I was already too itchy to think. However, I still got to see a lot of such a big park that's bigger than New York's Central Park.
Bring an umbrella, bug spray, drinking water, and wear comfortable shoes (preferably water-proof or something that washes/ dries easily).Helpful 10Thanks 1Love this 6Oh no 0 - Apr 14, 2024
Larger than New York City's Central Park, New Orleans' City Park is iconic. Taking the 48 streetcar from near the Warehouse District, the ride took around 30 minutes. Once inside the park, we spent several hours enjoying a few of the kids sites before heading to our hotel. We barely scratched the surface.
Our seven-year-old loved every minute in the park from finding turtles and cranes in the swamp-like water with beautiful trees from riding the rides at the amusement park. (Her ticket was $21 for unlimited rides and around $12.14 per parent. Senior citizen tickets cost $11.32.
Next to the amusement park is Storyland, a $6 fenced playground inspired by famous children's books. My daughter's favorite parts were the large slide and the Candy Lane game.
Next, we strolled through the botanical gardens and sculpture before stopping at Cafe du Monde's City Park location. It's less busy and still sells their famous beignets.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Apr 8, 2024
I love City Park. I've spent so much of time here and I still can't get enough. From leisurely walks to being pulled around by my puppy baby Ginger, and picnicking on Big lake or peddling the swans in the evening. I love it here! I particularly love spring mornings that I can walk around and smell the flowers blooming.
I enjoy the botanical and sculpture gardens, with all of its gorgeous flora and history. I'm a huge lover of art and history. NOMA marries the two so well and always has new exhibits to visit. City park is definitely one of my favorite green spaces. No matter how old the trees are, City Park will never get old in my mind.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - May 22, 2024
City Park is one of my favorite places in Nola to take visitors or just spend an afternoon in peaceful solitude. There are attractions for all ages, many of which are free. Walking paths, jungle gyms, playing field, and a sculpture garden along the river are some of the free options. There's also mini-golf, a botanical garden, art museum, an old-timey train and cafe du monde!

Always love city park. Great year round. The scenery is so nice and NOMA is neat too. The gardens/lakes are all gorgeous.

City Park is always a breath of fresh air. Once again, it served as a perfect place to unwind amongst its natural beauty.

A beautiful park that you can spend the entire day in. We took a stroll along the water after grabbing coffee and beignets at Cafe Du Monde.
The sculpture garden is a 5 star attraction and not to be missed. The grounds are beautiful and make you feel like you are out of the city. The sculptures are varied in type, meaning, date made, and interpretation. I've never seen such a wonderful sculpture garden with sculptures that gave us so much to talk about.
Fabulous place to visit and get outside in nature in the city.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
