I was stuck in DTLA and was heading home to OC but didn't want to sit in traffic. Instead I found this place on Yelp and too a detour for dinner to avoid rush hour traffic.
Let's just say I made an excellent decision. I sat at the bar, ordered drink and dinner. Beautiful resto. Great ambiance. Crazy delicious food. Was so hangry I ordered everything! Promise these pix don't lie! 5/5 all the way!Helpful 0Thanks 2Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 10, 2024
I'm usually unsure of how good places that are overhyped can be. But this spot meets the hype! It checks all the boxes from ambiance to good food. The server recommended 3 to 6 dishes for two people, as everything is shareable. The two of us ordered 4 dishes and one dessert, which was perfect because we weren't super hungry.
+ Sunrise Spritz: Went with a mocktail but it was still pretty and tastes as good as it looks. The pairing of lychee and hibiscus is so refreshing with a taste of sourness and slight kick from what I assume galangal tasted like.
+ Roasted beet salad: I liked the crunchy bits that came with this but it was a bit too spicy for my liking. I'm not a huge fan of beets but my boyfriend liked this.
+ Ora king salmon poke: Nice appetizer if you want seafood. The salmon is fatty and the chili crunch was very mild, perfect for my low spice tolerance.
+ Tadka crunch chicken: I loved the yogurt sauce pairing. I normally don't care much for chicken but this was tender and well seasoned with the brussel sprouts pairing.
+ Goat shank: What they are known for here. It falls off the bone and no gaminess. Came with two pieces of warm naan for us.
+ Oyster scoop: I paused on reading the dessert menu as soon as I saw that this had oyster sauce. I'm adventurous to a degree so had to try. I'll admit I don't think I love this but it's basically like a salted chocolate ice cream scoop. It's not fishy but I did get a hint of oyster sauce in the first bites before the sweetness kicked in. It's saltier than your usual sea salt ice cream but unique.
Parking: DTLA is kinda crazy for parking but conveniently this location is closely located to a parking structure called At Mateo Public Parking Garage on Google Maps. Only cost us about $10 for 2 hours. Shaded, clean and you can pay with card when you leave.

I've already been here twice, the food is delicious and the service is solid.
Their brunch menu has lots of options and anything you get on the menu is a 5 star.
Highly recommend coming hereHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 27, 2024
The food here was fabulous. We started off with the blueberry cornbread. It was fresh out of the oven, perfectly warm and with a slightly crispy texture on the outside. The confit goat belly was also very tasty, but we did start to worry that we hadn't ordered enough. The goat curry at the end did its job filling us up. Everything was flavorful and well-seasoned. I loved the different textures in each dish.
We were slightly concerned that the outdoor seating would be hot due to the summer weather, but between the two tall buildings and the tree canopy overheard, we had plenty of shade. It was cute, with overhead lights, lots of green. We really enjoyed the vibe. We had a show to catch afterwards and we loved the option of scanning a QR code and paying digitally without having to wait for the back and forth of receiving the check, paying, processing, and adding tip. We would definitely come back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 8, 20241 check-in
I came here recently with a few friends for a belated birthday dinner. The ambiance is great - both inside and outside. They offer outside dining and in any other season it would be great to sit outside but in the thick of summer, it was way too hot.
The service was fantastic. Normally when you ask for recommendations from your server, they name a few items but our server really took his time analyzing the dishes with us and you could tell he was a foodie himself. For the items that we did order due to his recommendation, they were on point. My absolute favorite dish of the night was the halibut and he said that was the best and it was. We ordered a variety of dishes to share - from the short ribs noodles to the pork shank. We also ordered the chickpea fritters, cornbread, and goat liver mousse. The short ribs noodles was another hit - my second favorite item of the evening.
Overall, I love the way they mix flavors and ingredients. Would love to come back next time they have new items on the menu.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 19, 2024
Wish I could rate this 6 stars because WOW the food, the vibe, everything was amazing!!
Heres what we got:
Naan and dips: 5/5 delicious and a generous portion! My favorite dip was the hummus with chili oil yummm
Beet salad: 4/5 small portions but super flavorful! Left me wanting some arugula because it lacked some greens
Green beans: 5/5 delish and full of yummy umami flavor
Goat curry: 6/5 favorite dish of the night!! It has a beautiful balance of textures with soft tender meat, creamy savory sauce, and crunchy soaked chips...i will be dreaming about this tonight
Pork shank: 5/5 i really dont know what we were thinking getting another meat dish but WOW this would be awesome to share with a group! Meat falls off the bone and the accompaniments were spot on. Especially the melon salad!
Mango sticky rice: 5/5 unique take on the original! Love the foamy coconut cream and the sorbet
Our plates were replaced so we had clean dishes when we moved to our other courses which was very thoughtful. Whenever we got our food they explained what we were eating. Our waitress was attentive and friendly.
Needless to say, I will be back!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 5, 2024Updated review2 check-ins
Had some friends visiting from out of town and asked me if I could snag us some reservations for dinner. On it!
While some things have changed in the last couple years, the food is still great and service still friendly! (No more valet parking, but it's pretty easy and close in the structure).
We started off with some tasty drinks. I was intrigued by Steph's Cadillac and was curious why its price point ($34) was so much higher than the average price on the menu ($19). Our friendly server David told me that it was bigger and that the grand marnier was premium. While it was slightly larger than the Goat Fashioneds ordered by the rest of our table, and it was a very tasty mezcal-based marg, I don't think I'd order it again at that price. At the end of the night, I ordered a standard Espresso Martini instead of the on-the-menu Mar-tea-ni; again it was good, but it was the same as the special price ($21).
As for food, we enjoyed everything we ordered: Blue Cornbread ($14), Sichuan-spiced Tomato Peanut Salad ($23) was one of our faves!, Ora King Salmon Poke ($27), Chickpea Fritters ($17) was another surprising fave!,Confi Goat Belly ($35) is always good, Short Rib Noodles ($37), and the Sticky Glazed Pork Shank ($45) was delicious, but the portion felt smaller than we remember; it's also a hard dish to share with 4 people and we nearly ordered another. We also enjoyed an interesting and well-paired bottle of red with our meal.
Great music and ambience, our server David was great, the Somm (whose name I can't recall--sorry) was helpful and friendly, and all the food runners and bussers were great, too! I had a great convo with the Somm and manager about how much I miss one of the former cocktails, the Tropic Like It's Hot; the Somm was like, "Wow! You're an OG!" I guess that drink has been off the menu for some time, lol, as making the brush for it was pretty labor-intensive.
We still haven't made it here for brunch and I still say it looks delicious. Glad that we were able to bring our friends to such a great dinner!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Lissa, thanks a million for taking the time to leave Girl & The Goat LA a five-star review! We are so glad that Richard and Jim took excellent care of you and that you enjoyed our terrace seating. Seeing what our guests love from our menu is always wonderful, so thanks again for sharing such great details from your meal. We can't wait to see you back again to try more!
Jun 1, 2022Previous reviewSo happy to finally dine at Girl and the Goat!
We were seated in the super cute terrace and were lucky enough to have Richard as our server. He was so friendly, as well as helpful, as far us choosing drinks and food. Everything we had was soooo good! I wanted to order more, but we already had consumed plenty. This just means we need to go back!
Jim G and I started with cocktails; he enjoyed his Goat Fashioned and I LOVED the Tropic Like it's Hot (cute reference, too). My drink had rum, coconut, banana, and pineapple. It tasted like southeast Asia (and I mean that in the BEST way!). If only I could double the liquor, I would have ordered many, many more, lol! However, I was super excited to see Carboniste's sparkling Albariño on the menu! We enjoyed this wine a few years ago in Ojai and I've never seen it anywhere since! We had to get a bottle and loved it! (Didn't love the markup, tbh; you can buy it directly from the winery for $28 and a bottle at the restaurant was $78. Close to a 3x markup seems egregious).
As for the food, again everything was delicious! We enjoyed the Duck Tartare, the Goat Belly, the Pork Shank, and some Green Beans. (Jim G. posted all the pics) I was interested in the Goat Curry, but Richard suggested that if I liked spicier Thai or Indian curries, then the goat curry wouldn't satisfy that craving, as it is more sweet and has a tomato-based sauce; still delicious, he said, but not the flavor profile I was looking for. I appreciated his candor.
Would love to go back and try more of the menu; brunch also looks good. I just wish the traffic from the West Valley to the Arts District wasn't so unbearable!
Thanks to Richard and everyone at Girl & the Goat! - Jul 7, 2024
I have always heard about this place and my friends finally came to dine at G&G ! Spoiler alert, it was absolutely fantastic !
Food:
For salads, we had the Shrimp and Crispy Greens and Beef Short rib noodles . It was refreshing and opened up my appetite. Beef Short Rib was grilled so well which was melting in my mouth. The grilled pineapple really compliments the Short rib. The glass noodles remind me of having Japchae which is Korean noodles. These were both recommended by our server.
For main course, we were very lucky to have the goat special which was the hidden / special dish of the night. The mid section of the rib was falling off the bones and the meat was still steaming even when we were working on the last piece. It came with different dipping sauces, veggies, and tortilla. It was so delicious and I can still remember the taste after a week.
We also had the Grilled Corn which is a must try ! It is amazing how the coconut and caramel work so well with each other. I am ordering this again for sure next time.
Room for dessert ? Then you have to try the Peach Pear Sorbet. It's something so refreshing to have after having the main dishes.
Drinks:
My personal favorite is the Espresso mar-tea-ni. Notice the tea ? Yep, It has tea in it and it was so smooth to drink. This is not your regular espresso martini. Kudos to the bartender who invented this !
We also had the Chef Steph's Cadilllac, Goat Fashion, Takin' Care of Bees Knees, and Ring of fire. Don't hesitate ! Try all of them ! They were all unique and you won't be disappointed.
Service:
Our server Trinh was simply amazing. The dishes she recommended were all top notch. Her care and attentiveness are unmatched. Not a single moment when we had to look for anyone. This place makes me feel like home and that my satisfaction matters.
Ambiance:
Parking was easy and there's a parking structure next to the restaurant. The restaurant is good for every possible meet up you can think of. Whether you want to catch up with friends or hangout with the family. The bar also allows you to enjoy a drink or two if you would besides food. There's also a cute patio area if outside dining is preferred.
Not only I will be recommending this restaurant to anyone, I will also be coming back for more and try out other dishes. Huge shout out to our server Trinh , chef, staff, and the GM !Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 31, 2024
Came for a tasting menu with a friend and absolutely loved it!
Since they open later in the day, the lighting is very dim and the decor within the restaurant shines in the low light.
The menu consisted of starters, entrees, and desserts. Each person was able to get 2 cocktails as well. Thank you to the waitress for suggesting certain drinks that fit our tastes!
We started off with bread and 2 selections of spread. We then moved into the assorted dishes. One of my favorites was the beef short rib noodles. The short ribs were to die for. Crunchy outer layer and soft melt-in-your-mouth texture on the inside. The noodles themselves reminded me a bit of Japchae.
Another honorable mention was the Takda Crunch Chicken. Very strong flavour of spices and seasonings and the chicken was cooked to perfection.
Among the desserts, my favorite was the Strawberry Miso Shortcake. I had never experienced miso as a flavour within dessert, but the taste grew on me and paired surprisingly well with the milk ice cream and cake.
My favorite among the cocktails was the farmers market margarita. Great balance of flavours and not too much of an alcoholic taste. Loved it and would definitely have it again.
Loved this experience and would love to come back for more. If you're in the arts district and in the mood for something different, this is a place to consider!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
