This is our 4th dinner in the last two months at La Sirene Soho. This time we brought another couple; they were impressed!. The food, service and hospitality were all phenomenal, just as before. In our opinion, this is the best French Menu in NYC for its variety of dishes, quality of food preparation, and size of portion; in our experience, there were also specials offered too. A must visit in NYC to experience Didier's cuisine!

I've had far and few dining experiences where I wouldn't change a thing, and this is one of them!
Authentic French food, intimate and cozy vibes, friendly and attentive staff, and of course, incredible food.
The warm foie gras was absolutely to die for, as were the skirt steak and duck. Escargot and steak tartare were also delicious.
For dessert, we had the banana brûlée and Croquembouche au Caramel and we're fighting for the last bite.
I can't wait to dine here again.
FYI they only accept American Express for credit cards. While a slight inconvenience, an extremely respectable decision (read their menu when you visit)!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 40212970Feb 22, 2024

That being said, came here for dinner with my best friend. We just wanted to catch up with each other over life stuff.
Food: 5*
Mussels Creoles: THE SAUCE IS THE BEST!!! PART OF IT. We requested extra bread to sop up the remaining sauce on the dish.
Hanger steak: Tender and robust in flavor, don't recall the sliced potato dish on my plate was called. Had a bit of the foie gras from my friend, it was not for us. Also, we had veggies served with us but we were unsure if it was part of my meal or my best friend's. The puree was DELICIOUS, the other items were simply alright.
Strawberry tartelette: LESS sweet than I expected it to be, not a complaint though. The chantilly cream, custard, and tart were delicious as a whole.
Service: 4.5*
The wait staff is quite friendly and nice, no complaints there.
Ambiance: 4.5*
It is quite small in there! There are not many tables in there. The bathroom was ultra cramped too.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Cynthia N.Columbus, OH01953Feb 15, 2024
Service - 5
As we entered the restaurant we were immediately walked to sit down at our table. We were right at the corner of the kitchen and the hall and my date was a bit uncomfortable with the sitting. We barely uttered a word before one of the hosts realized and quickly offered us a better seat in the back of the next room. We were so happy with the new seating. The service was truly on point and they were very quickly, pleasant and made sure to tend to all our needs. They consistently came back to check on how we liked our meals and were very accommodating. This was very excellent service and just the service alone will have me return here.

I was quite surprised by how small the restaurant was as we walked in. It was very packed as it was Valentine's Day and the tables were very close to one another, not sure I love that so much. I do think they made very good use of the space they have. The walk way was spacious enough but the tables were so close I had to squeeze into the first table were seated at. The second table we sat down at was a booth and bit more spacious. I was able to head to the bathroom at the end of the night and it was around the corner of a small hallway. The bathroom was very small and there were 2 next to each other. The bathroom just had a toilet and right outside a small sink to wash your hands with a little mirror. The lights were pretty low and the space was beautifully decorated for Valentine's Day with plenty balloons and painting on the windows.

The have an extensive drink menu and we originally wanted wines but were told most wines they had were not sweet. I opted for mixed drinks and went with the trusty amaretto sours. The bartender was on point and the drinks were tasty and we had two rounds
The food was soooo good we couldn't stop talking about it. We almost thought we wouldn't be full from the meal and were so shocked how full we were even before we could get to the dessert.
Everything was so delicious from the bread we had to start which was just a basic bread and oil but you can tell it was fresh.
I was a little disappointed when told by the server they did not have the oysters as I was looking forward to trying that but was told the escargot would be in the same sauce and that was my second option. It was delicious and the sauce it came in was pretty fantastic. I got extra bread to dip into it that's how good it was. We also got the raviolis with truffles and it was sooo good. The raviolis were pretty small and I loved the presentation in the small crock pot it was a nice touch. The white sauce was pretty tasty and also was a good bread dip lol. We got the rack of lamb and duck breast for entree and both were good. The duck breast was so much better and I would have it again. Both came with a scalloped potatoes on each plate and a veggie platter for two to share. I didn't think I would enjoy the veggie platter as much as I did. It came with broccoli, squash, Mexican squash which I never had and it was different but good, and the star of the day the puréed carrots. I couldn't stop eating it and also couldn't believe it was carrots, wow so good!!
Now to end our meal we both got the chocolate desert and caramel dessert. The chocolate dessert was like a bread that had ice cream in the middle with chocolate poured on top. Now I love chocolate but more so milk chocolate so the dark chocolate was a bit bitter and intense to me, and im glad it came with the ice cream to mellow the taste out. The caramel dessert had a cream inside and grand manier and I couldn't get enough of it. It was buttery and delicious and the crispy caramel on top sealed it. I wanted more but had to settle for just one serving as I was full from my meal lol. I enjoyed this dinner so much and can't wait to come back for more of this authentic French cuisine.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - 240237856Jul 12, 2024
Beyond delish. Don't sleep on this place. The staff, food, and ambiance were all perfect. Loved the whole night. Thank you La Sirene. We came with a huge group. Everyone loved the food.

Great ambiance with dim lighting and nice decor. Service was friendly. Food was amazing: had the ravioli, steak tartare, steak au poivre, filet with foie gras, duck breast, and the lamb chops. Everything was great, the duck breast and steak au poivre especially. also had a tarte tatin for desert which was great.

I'm super puzzled at the general positive and high ratings provided by Yelpers for this restaurant. I'm probably an anomaly, but I'm puzzled, after having dined there yesterday.
They claim to be classically French, but I hate to be harsh, but the food was just mediocre. Each dish lacked the complex and rich flavor of elevated French cuisine.
We had three appetizers and none of them were good. The pate was bland and felt more like a suasage patty than the creamy texture of a real liver latte.
The ravioli with truffles were bland and the truffle shaving felt more like cheap supermarket mushrooms.
Duck was overcooked and served at room temperature with an overpowering sweet sauce. It was inedible.
Cornish hen had a healthy dose of soy sauce; how French?
Rabbit was fine!
Ambiance was gloomy and dark.... French look doesn't have to be depressing.
The worse part was the service. We had a reservation and checking in seemed like an inconvenience. It took the waiter 20 mins to give us the menu and then another 20 for his colleague to come take our order. The staging of the food was really haphazard! Terrible service.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1Business owner information

La Sirene will always be our favorite French restaurant in NYC. Let me lay out all the reasons why:
Service - 5*
Marty is what I would call the perfect waiter. He's friendly, easily to talk to, and provided exceptional service to ensure we had a wonderful dining experience, from cleaning up the bread crumbs to checking-in to see if we like our food, to simply having a pleasant conversation that wasn't too abrupt or too long, it was simply enjoyable and heartwarming. If I had a restaurant of my own, Marty is the type of server I wish I could hire. The other waiters are also exceptional and friendly as well!
Ambiance - 4*
The restaurant is indeed very beautiful and warm, but some of the tables are very small; although it provides an intimate experience, it sometimes felt as if our food overwhelmed the table and made it a bit tight. The seating is also kind of too close, where we felt as if we were dining with the table next to us. However, I'm sure a little rearranging can fix this issue with no problem!
Food - 5*
Escargot - consistently fresh and tasty, with a perfect blend of garlic, butter, and parsley! The sauce remaining paired beautifully with the complimentary bread so remember to save some of the bread! It is a bit pricy though, averaging around 4 dollars per piece.
French onion soup - crispy cheese adding a pleasant bite to the soup! Very flavorful and the different textures are beautifully interwoven, providing a delightful and heartwarming experience!
Hanger steak - incredibly tender and it paired perfectly with the sauce, which has a nice balance between its savoriness and the truffle infused in it! Definitely a good choice for steak!
Cassoulet - My favorite dish of all time at La Sirene! Incredibly filling and rich, with a blend of fattiness from the duck, sausage, bacon, and chicken infused with the soft beans and veggies! The breadcrumbs also provide a very playful crunch that enhanced the entire dish as well! If you get this, chances are you're guaranteed to be full, so be careful you don't over order! This dish used to be served to warriors, so that's just a little fun fact that also made me love this dish more! A perfect winter dish!
Overall, I am so happy that La Sirene has always been so consistent in its exemplary service and heartwarming entrees! Highly recommend coming here for a nice comforting dinner, whether it's with family or with your soulmate!
Thank you for reading and best of luck! (:Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tair A.Manhattan, NY040Aug 4, 2024
FIRSTLY, thank you for using NON-PLASTIC containers for delivery! It's very much appreciated.
And secondly, your restaurant was a really pleasant discovery for me, a usually hard to please foodie. Every dish was really delicious.
Thank you very much!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 14, 2024
Similar to other reviews I am not really sure what the hype about this restaurant is. I was so excited to try the food because of its great ratings and the fact that they serve french food, but it seemed like there was something missing in each dish. I came for restaurant week, tried the escargot and pate for appetizers. The escargot had good flavor but it was a little too salty. The pate was very weird in texture, almost like eating a meatball. For the main course I tried the rabbit and the duck. The duck was fine but I could not understand why the rabbit was such a hit. There was nothing much to the flavor, and just felt like I was eating bland chicken. It was also very busy that day which resulted in the meal taking 2 hours to eat, with very long breaks between the appetizer and the main. I would assume that they would know how to handle the high volume, so I thought the food came out really slow.
Waiters were very kind and came by to let us know that the food would be coming out slow that day which I appreciated.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
