Really really excellent experience getting my phone fixed here!
I dropped my phone 1-2 weeks ago and completely destroyed the screen. It was unresponsive, vibrated occasionally. Totally panicked because I had none of my data backed up.
I called around and found this shop, which was the closest one open the day I called and was able to walk in and get a quote for the phone fix immediately at what I believed to be an extremely reasonable cost. David, the front desk guy, laid out all of my options clearly and let me take all the time I needed to make an informed choice. He was also extremely helpful with giving advice on phone care, tricks to try to get my data out while waiting on ordering the needed part (unfortunately these did not work lol), and was prompt in responding to my texts. Extremely transparent and answered my many questions about what parts were broken.
The shipping for the part was really slow, and actually took longer than the 3-4 days they originally estimated, but David was good about communicating ETA on part arrival and setting up time to come in and get it fixed throughout the week. In terms of time it took to get my phone fixed, they were also accurate. If they said to come back in 2 hours, I came back and it was ready in 2 hours.
David also helped with generating an itemized receipt since I had warranty and was detail-oriented in getting all the information I needed correct, asking about the deductible, insured party, etc., all to ensure that I got all my money back.
Unluckily, after I got the screen fixed, I realized that I also had messed up the volume buttons on the phone. I texted them again and they told me to come in the next day, where they fixed it for me in under an hour at no additional cost to me, explaining that it was okay since neither of us would have caught the issue given the black screen problem.
Another thing I liked is that the shop is very trustworthy. They will not ask for your lockscreen passcode unless they absolutely need it for the repair. I didn't have to give it for my original screen repair. And instead of asking me to tell them the code for the volume button repair, they asked me to remove the lockscreen so they could test the hardware without needing my passcodes.
Definitely come here if you have any tech issues! The shop is unassuming, small and looks crowded in a messy home garage sort of way, but the customer service is top notch. It's a family business that cares about providing a good experience for its customers. Would come back in the future for any issues I might have!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 27, 2023
Ever wondered what the exact opposite of an Apple store is? If you're able, walk into MOBILE FIX for that experience.
MOBILE FIX appears large enough to accommodate a restaurant the size of many others along Irving Street but the space is filled to capacity. So filled in fact that they can accommodate only 1 customer at a time. When that customer leaves, step inside to an absolute assault on the senses:
* a dog;
* a child playing computer games;
* the electronic sounds of those computer games;
* a grandparent of the child;
* a parent of the child; and
* stacks and piles of phones and computer equipment destined for the scrap heap.
It's some weird sort of poetry this place, and were it not for the incredible friendliness and chatty nature of the owner I probably wouldn't have gotten such a kick out of it. But friendly and chatty he is and so I did.
With a cracked phone screen requiring repair, the owner quoted me a price and told me how quickly he could get it done. I agreed before he told me it was "cash only" but the time it took for the repair was almost the same length of time it took for me to walk to a nearby ATM.
When I returned I had to wait outside until another customer exited. My phone was fixed and the owner told me a few other things - about my phone's battery - that might be useful to know while assuring me he could resolve those issues when/if they become a problem.
You don't find businesses like this anymore, a true family store that looks and feels like, uh, somebody's house. Or maybe somebody's garage. I liked supporting MOBILE FIX and encourage you to give them a try. It's no Apple store and I mean that in the best way possible.Helpful 5Thanks 2Love this 2Oh no 0 - Martin F.San Francisco, CA2225Jun 22, 2024Updated review
Mobile Fix and Evan's work was amazing. I had him switch the logic boards between my two iPhones 12 Pro Max's and the turnaround was 2-3 hours. After picking them up and looking closely at seams as well as operation, it was flawless. The intended result of merging the all the known good parts between the two iPhone 12's was really a nearly brand new iPhone. Two thumbs up and five stars for Mobile Fix and Evan.
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Nov 23, 2012Previous reviewI WOULD NOT GO TO MOBILE FIX. All my transactions experiences were rips off, I went to buy AC cords, both were knockoffs at OEM prices. For the apple iphone, they charged me the same price for a plain vanilla power cord vs a10w charger that I should have bought at apple directly. On my blackberry when it wouldn't power up, they sold me a new battery and power cord it didn't need, all it needed was a reset. Finally, when i cracked my iphone4, they sold me some ill fitting piece of shit digitizer which was slow and did not feel like the OEM, even though they claimed it was. I don't know who owns the place, its just full of kids who give out dirty looks as you walk in, like WTF, is this a business or a hang out!!!

Fantastic service. Have a black Galaxy S23 Ultra. My screen was covered in glue from a screen protector job gone bad. Called around and got quotes from $350 to $400. One place in South San Francisco ordered a new screen for me but sold it to someone else. Then, tried to convince me to install a screen for a beige or green phone (because they had these in stock) for $400. Um...no. Called Evan in the Sunset. He quoted between $199 (the lowest estimate) and $400 and explained the gap in price. No upselling. Turns out, he was able to remove the glue and polish my screen for a fraction of the price *and* installed my screen protector (I had a spare) for free. Looks brand new. Professional. Funny. Smart. Local. Great customer service. Absolutely the best.

My mother-in-law spilled a glass of milk on my new M1 Powerbook and shorted it out. I'm fairly hardware savvy and have replaced my own batteries and fan on my old Macbooks. But with the new M1 Powerbook, Apple really made them crazy complicated.
I called up MOBILEFIX and David told me to come in immediately. I pad a $165 deposit/diagnostic which may not sound cheap. But in San Francisco for highly skilled technical labor that's fair.
I called him 24hrs later to check up on my Macbook and he told me they took it apart and found more fluid in the case. They flushed it out with electrical cleaning solvent and heat dried it up overnight. He texted me photos of the components. When liquids get into the internals I knew what parts could be damaged but I kept that to myself.
David went through the tests that they performed and his diagnosis matched my own findings. He gave me a quote for replacing the screen and heatsink and told me he wouldn't be able to fully test the logic board until those were replaced. I thought it was fair and paid him up front to order the parts.
It ended up costing me about $500. But he got my Macbook up and running without having to wipe the HD. A similar repair at the Apple Store would have cost double that (I talked to Apple Care). A less reputable or skilled repair shop would have told you there were more parts needing replacing and would try to upcharge you. But David said let's try the cheapest part first and see if that fixes it and it did.
Two things you should know:
1: The store is very cluttered and looks like my aunt's garage. The Apple Store it is not. But the work they do is top notch and I appreciate the lack of B.S. Years ago I brought my old HTC phone to this shop to get a quote on having the battery replaced but he flat-out told me not to; it would be cheaper to buy a new phone at T-Mobile. How many repair shops talk you OUT of getting a repair because it would be too expensive?!
2: David speaks in a fast, clipped staccato with a Chinese accent. Don't mistake this for "Salesman Fast-talking". If you don't understand what he said or the technical details are too much, just ask him to repeat it again slowly. He's not trying to trick you, he's just a little ADHD. Anybody who's worked around software engineers or hardware geeks knows what I'm talking about.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lexi A.Sacramento, CA01Mar 28, 2024
Super helpful and great prices! Came here for iPhone battery and back screen replacement after Best Buy geek squad quoted me $400+ and weeks of waiting time. They charged me $275 here and had my phone fixed in two hours. They even gave me a free phone case and screen protector as I did not have either on the phone when I dropped it off. Would definitely come here again!

Another fantastic experience with this company when I needed to replace my phone battery. I purchased a battery replacement kit for my Google Pixel 3 -- I was not able to do it myself. Not only did they use the battery I had already purchased, but they also presented me with all my options upfront. They were also ready to do the service immediately on a weekday evening, which was incredibly convenient. Since the battery replacement, my phone has been performing flawlessly. Their efficient and customer-oriented approach made a real difference. Highly recommended!
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Mar 26, 2021Previous reviewI have been going to Mobile Fix for all my electronic repair needs since I've moved to SF (this has included a Samsung Galaxy broken screen and a MacBook Pro hardware issue). I have mostly interacted with the owner, but this goes for all the employees, too -- they not only demonstrate expertise in their line of work, but they are also transparent and straightforward about the process. There is no funny business: they will tell you what is necessary and what is not. They'll also be clear about how much it will cost (always reasonable) and how long it will take (always fast; for my repairs, I had same-day service). Mobile Fix hasn't failed me in the past few years, and they won't fail you.

Speedy customer service, thorough diagnostics, and crystal clear consultation. I called in about my swollen Samsung S6 & S8 battery and they immediately picked up. Evan was the Samsung tech and he replaced my battery, which was ready for pick up within an hour.
After a diagnoses on both phones, he found out my charger port was burnt from the swollen battery. I believe David was the front desk person -- excellent customer service. He was transparent and straight forward about the costs, expectations, and alternatives to fixing the screen on my S6.
I highly recommend this store and would come back if I have an issue with any other device.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
