Walked in looking for a new salon in the city. I had a few options and decided to try this place out because of the walk in.

I was taken right away (around 10 ish am) on a Saturday and Junya who took care of me shampooed, conditioned, and got the haircut exactly as I wanted. He's so skilled and he massages and also styles after too! My hair is so soft and amazing.

i have thicker asian hair that has a slight wave and is frizzy, so i've always been concerned about how the hairstyles i like wouldn't suit my hair type. however, the person who cut and styled my hair, Ar Dee (i believe that was his name) did a wonderful job and I am so grateful. I would definitely come back again the next time I cut my hair :)).

First time going to this hair salon and will definitely be coming back. Junya (the guy and maybe owner/manager??) cut my hair and he did an amazing job. I told him I wanted long layers and some face framing pieces and he gave me exactly what I asked for. He was very gentle and even gave me a head and neck massage hahaha. My total was $78 before tip for wash and cut - very reasonable price!!

Make sure you make an appt over the phone! They're usually booked out a week in advance.

I had my hair permed here. The skin near forehead was itching and burning. After inspection, I discovered that my skin had indeed been burned as a result of the procedure.

Came here to see Junya and he is so amazing! I asked for long layers and showed him pictures for reference. He was so professional and kind the whole time. He is so attentive and checked in with me to see if I was doing ok too!

Halfway through my haircut there was another customer who got super upset at her hairdresser and Junya (who is also the manager) handled the interaction so calmly and professionally as well!

He's been cutting hair for 35 years and you really can't go wrong with him! I am extremely happy with my haircut, it's one of the best I've had in years! The total ended up being around $78 + tip which is a super great deal. Would totally recommend coming here to see Junya!

I am so grateful that my friend encouraged me to grab their card when we were walking nearby. I mentioned that I had curly hair and was given an appointment with Yoshino. All I can say is she is the best at what she does and understands how wonky curly/wavy hair can be. She dry cut first and then shampooed and conditioned. She also taught me the proper way to use leave-in conditioner. Once that was done she went over and cut again until all the curls fell right. I love that it's so easy to maintain and I really love that no matter how I sleep, my hair maintains its shape!
I also want to mention that she's excellent with straight hair too. She was finishing another client and when she was done I couldn't help but tell the woman that her hair was beautiful and it had gorgeous movement to it. Really impressive!

Yoshino was fabulous! Sweet and kind and so professional. I wanted to get a perm and she talked me out of it bc my hair was colored and the damage would have been extensive. I appreciate the honesty and she could have taken the money and not care. I ended with one of best cuts I have had in a while.
I will be back and I will recommend all my friends too. It is basic salon, Don't expect spa like experience. The price can't be beat!!

Friends don't let friends get haircuts for their Asian hair from non-Asian places.

Was looking for an Asian salon in SF for my first haircut since I moved here and have always seen the Nepenji folks killing through the window, so decided to give it a shot.

Ardee did a great job with my hair. When I asked to keep my longer hair, he made sure not to take away any length...so many salons don't listen !!

Would recommend.

I went to Nepenji today on a whim to get a haircut as I was struggling to find a solid salon in SF that didn't charge a crazy amount of money for a haircut. My stylist, ArDee, did such an incredible job with my hair. He spent over an hour, washing it thoroughly, and then doing magic to my hair. I told him I wanted volume, texture, curtain bangs, and layers and boy did he deliver! He was so kind and told me what he was doing in every step, and worked efficiently but never rushed. The salon recently raised their prices to $85+tip (which ArDee explained), but for a wash, cut, and blowout in SF? I think it's incredibly fair for the quality of work and time spent. I have found my new favorite salon and will be returning as long as I'm in SF!
