      A:

You can only join the waitlist once you get there. It move fast, but there will be a wait depending on the date and time you go.

So the customer service was top tier! Me and my fellow foodie friend enjoyed the interaction. The food was delicious, amazing, and mouthwatering. They gave us a piece of New Orleans that will forever hold a place in our hearts. We will definitely be visiting again, Neyows gets a 5 i from us!

      1 check-in

This was our first stop once we arrived in town for our conference, and I must say I'm sad that I didn't visit it more while I was there. The food is absolutely delicious, and the hush puppies are the best I've ever tasted. I also had some shrimp and fries, which were equally good. We split their signature punch, which was simple but strong and kind of sneaked up on me. Our waitress was great, and the service was pretty good even though they were busy; we didn't have to wait long for our food.

I also got to taste the char-grilled oysters that my friend ordered, which were delicious, as well as a bit of their étouffée, which was equally good. I recommend anyone coming to New Orleans visit this place. The customer photos displayed on the wall are definitely a testament to how good the food is because they serve some of the greats.

I am genuinely baffled by the positive reviews this restaurant has received. During our family visit to NOLA, we were eager to try this highly praised restaurant, especially after seeing photos of celebrities who had dined there. Being native to the city, we know authentic Cajun cuisine, but what we encountered was far from it. The food was bland, underseasoned, and utterly forgettable, and the service was equally disappointing.

The red beans and rice lacked flavor, and the fried chicken and pork chops tasted as if they were cooked in dirty grease. The "spicy boiled shrimp and corn" were merely drenched in butter and black pepper, with no trace of actual spice--contrary to the menu description. Moreover, the portion was meager, with just five shrimp for over $12--a complete rip-off.

Adding to the culinary disappointment was our rushed and uncomfortable experience with the waitress. She barely gave us time to review the menu, and the descriptions were misleading. The "spicy shrimp bites" turned out to be a sweet, orange chicken-flavored dish. When we pointed out the discrepancy and requested it be removed from our bill, the waitress initially claimed she would "see if they would take it off" but later insisted we had consumed most of it so she won't take it off. Also if they weren't going to give us a refund, at least give us back the food we're paying for. I could've gave it to someone or possibly a hungry stray animal (it probably wouldn't want it either).

We could have left with a better taste in our mouth (figuratively speaking because the food was so bad) had this waitress just taken off a $6 dollar platter of falsely advertised shrimp instead of putting her foot down and practically insinuating that we were trying to eat something then get it for free. Never ever coming here again and will let anyone I know visiting the city not to go too. If you want delicious authentic NOLA food with friendly people, you're better off getting food elsewhere-- I've had food from a corner stores better than this place. Don't let the hype and celebrity visits fool you like it did us.

If you are visiting NOLA and looking to indulge in some home-style cuisine, check out Neyow's (pronounced Knee-Yows). Neyow's offers a local restaurant feel where locals and visitors converge. If you can, try to get there between 4:00 and 6:00pm or be prepared to wait.

This was the second time I visited this establishment. The first time (a few years ago), the food and drinks were on point. That is my rationale for returning.

I ordered the Red Beans and Rice Special with Fried Chicken. I also had a piece of the cornbread. I cannot complain at all. It tasted like one of my church aunties with the big arms and wide hips was in the back preparing my food with love. If you know you know.

The two other people in my party ordered the Mustard Greens Special with Fried Chicken and a Seafood Combo Po' Boy. Both were satisfied with their meals. The chicken was hot and crispy. The greens were well-seasoned. The cornbread was light and slightly sweet, and the RBR were pretty good.

We did have wings, gumbo, and chargrilled oysters for appetizers. The wings and oysters were 8/10. The gumbo 7/10 because it needed (in our opinion) a little thickener.

The service was what I would expect at a local spot. Don't come expecting "white glove" treatment. This is not that kind of place. It felt like family. No bells and whistles. Just simple and basic service that gets you in and out. If you have questions or ask for recommendations, they got you covered. For example, our waiter recommended the praline pound cake with a pecan glaze. It was moist and light. Good recommendation.

We also had drinks. The mules were traditionally good and the punch is not for the weak or those watching their "sugar"!

In summation, put this spot in your list when visiting NOLA. You won't be disappointed.

      Happy eating!

My sister and I decided to venture into Neyow's Creole Cafe a couple of weeks ago for an early dinner. Despite the no-reservations policy, we eagerly added our names to the waitlist upon arrival and endured a 40-minute wait.

      DRINKS
Once seated, we faced another ten-minute delay before a waiter finally approached our table. I opted for a blue margarita, while my sister chose Neyow's fruit punch, which packed a punch indeed! It was strong and clearly a crowd favorite, as evidenced by the number of people around us who ordered it.

      APPETIZERS
My sister ordered hush puppies for her starter, while I opted for the cornbread. The hush puppies were nicely seasoned; however, the cornbread was the driest, least appetizing cornbread ever! Sadly, we couldn't get the cost removed from the bill.

      ENTREES
My sister ordered the red beans and rice with fried chicken, accompanied by a side of potato salad. While she found her meal decent overall, the potatoes had an odd acidic taste. I opted for the seafood combination platter featuring grilled fish, shrimp, sautéed potatoes, and whipped sweet potatoes. The sweet potatoes were delicious, while the rest of the platter was merely average in taste and execution.

      ATMOSPHERE
The lively atmosphere was a highlight. The entryway was adorned with photos of celebrities. A vibrant mix of top hits blared through the speakers, creating an energetic vibe.

      SERVICE
Service was slow! Our waiter took his time with our order and initially forgot part of it because he had memorized it rather than writing it down. Getting him to bring us a copy of our check after we paid the bill also took an extended time.

      VERDICT
If you're looking for a lively spot with music and a crowd and don't mind an extended wait or average food, head to Neyow's. Otherwise, you can get a more satisfying meal with better service elsewhere.

Food, vibes, and drinks were so good we came back to this place 3 days in a row.

There was a group of four and each day we tried something different on the menu and we were not disappointed.

Service was GREAT. Would recommend joining the waitlist prior to arrival. Bar is available for first come first serve.

We were in town for Essence and a girlfriend had been trying to secure a reservation at Neyows but was unsuccessful so we decided to try to being walk-ins. The wait was not as long as we anticipated (just an hour) and it was wellll worth it!

Long story short here, THE FOOD IS SLAMMING!!! The broiled crab claws were our favorite and the sauce they are taking a swim in needs to be sold by the pound because we literally asked for anything they had to sop it up with so we could devour it lol. The charbroiled oysters were a close second followed by the gumbo and the Bow Wow cocktail is a must drink because it will get you right!

Service is great as the entire staff was hustling (& eyes candy for everyone) and remained friendly and accommodating regardless of how busy or crazy it got in the restaurant (& it was nonstop action).

We will be adding Neyows to our ever growing must visit when in NOLA list and can't wait to visit them again.

We came here at the recommendation of a local and because of the great reviews. We made reservations for dinner so there wasn't a wait when we arrived. I thought it would be a fancier because of all the hype, but the atmosphere is pretty casual. More like a sport bar restaurant vibe.

It's a popular spot in town that lives up to its reputation for delivering authentic Southern fare. Service was good and the food is solid - everything was well seasoned and freshly prepared. We had the fried chicken, red beans and rice, fish strips, and bread pudding to finish off the meal. While everything was good and we enjoyed our meal, there wasn't anything in particular that stood out above the abundance of great food in New Orleans.

Street parking was easy which is always a plus in busy areas. Overall it was a satisfying meal. We would definitely return and recommend Neyow's for its quality Southern comfort food and laid back atmosphere.
