Really good Thai food at a reasonable price point. We had the porsod appetizer and then pad makuer and vegetable pad seew as mains and enjoyed everything. The rice noodles were perfectly seasoned, and the veggies were fresh and crisp. The sauce for the pad makuer was rich and garlicky, and the eggplant was well cooked. The service was excellent, and there is lots of seating inside. I will definitely return.

Food was awesome! Flavors were great! Got the salmon salad, Logan and Lemonade strawberry drink, prawns, and steamed shrimp and quail egg rice cake and the flavors were so good! Can't wait to comeback and try other dishes, the presentation of the food was divine!
I would skip the ginger sauce chicken rice, it's just like hainese steamed chicken with ginger sauce that I would never order again. But the rest of the food and drinks were delish!!!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 2, 2024
Such a cute new Thai place to grab dinner after a long week. Everything was delicious, but my favorites from this meal were the fruit salad and crab appetizer. They have a large menu so I will definitely be back to try more dishes.
Staff was friendly and service was prompt.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 30, 2024Updated review
Ordered pad see ew and papaya salad to go.
When I arrived for pick up, I asked for Thai chili with fish sauce to go. The waitress got upset and said "Next time tell me over the phone" in an annoyed tone.
After that encounter we won't be back. We've been here a couple times and have never experienced and rudeness from staff.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Thank you for ordering with us.Feb 27, 2024Previous reviewWhat a great addition to the Richmond district!
They've been open for 5 months and we finally had the chance to try them out. Everything was great and flavorful.
Service was 10/10! Which is rare now a days.
Ambiance is super clean, parking maybe tough on a weekend.
I recommend making reservations for dinner. - Jul 29, 20241 check-in
Decided to try this Thai restaurant that is located where Mescolanza used to be. They have been opened a few months already and I have to say, the service was exceptional. The restaurant itself is decorated beautifully.
Thai food is one of our favorite cuisines, so we are definitely comparing them to our other favorites in the area and the City. While some dishes were pretty good, we felt that some were very lackluster. Also because the price point of this restaurant is a few dollars signs above the average Thai restaurant, so we are definitely looking to see if this is "worth it".
We got the Pad Thai Kung Mae Nam (Pad Thai with River Prawns). This dish looks impressive and tasted pretty good. Essentially you are eating mostly pad thai because the river prawn doesn't have much meat, and with two people and two prawns, we each got one. The pad thai itself is a little too sweet according to my husband, but I didn't mind it as much as it also balance with the sour taste that comes from the tamarind.
We also got the Khao Mun Gai (Thai version of Hainanese Chicken Rice). While presented beautifully in a big tray lined with a banana leaf, comes with a chicken broth, garlic ginger rice (yummy), cucumber, and a soybean paste sauce, it was very underwhelming. The chicken itself was dry, feels overcooked. The soup tasted very "cup of noodle"ish according to my husband. I avoid it because I don't want the salty broth. The sauce itself is okay but nothing spectacular. Most disappointing is that there was no minced ginger sauce. Sorry to say but you can get better Khao Mun Gai at Rooster and Rice on Stanyan.
The cucumber salad was good and refreshing. The Thai iced tea was okay. Seems a bit watered down but okay.
So while we like the beautiful restaurant and the good service, the food is not impressive. Maybe we ordered wrong and or it was an off night. Maybe we will try again in a few months.

Cute Thai place in the Richmond! My friends and I came here late on a Sunday and they sat us immediately. The servers were attentive and nice! I also really enjoyed their cutlery. We ordered:
- Pad Thai (3/5) the noodles were too al dente for us and the sauce was really salty; we had to take it to go
- Kapow Moo Krob (2/5) I was most disappointed with this one because the sauce was good but the meat was too rough
- Gai Yang Oraan (4/5) unique sweet flavor with the sauce and tender chicken; this was a new menu item and they did well with it!
Overall, it was ok!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Oraan Thai is probably one of my new favorite Thai restaurants! The restaurant is simple, modern, and very spacious; I appreciate not being so close to neighboring tables. Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable with the menu, and quick with food/drink service. Menu options are extensive (2 pages) but not overwhelming, and everything we've tried has been on point with flavor and presentation.
MAKUER TOD: crispy eggplant with dipping sauce ($13.95) | 5*
The eggplant was tender and cooked well, and the batter was so light and crispy, not overly oily/greasy. The dish was beautifully presented with micro greens and floral petals. Best shared between 2-3 people.
CURRY PUFFS: pies filled with chicken, potato, carrot ($15.95) | 4*
You can't go wrong with deep fried puffs. These had a generous amount of delicious filling encased in a light and crispy shell with a thick and creamy curry sauce for dipping. The side of cucumber relish added some crunch and sweetness.
TOM YUM SOUP: hot & sour soup with mushroom, lemongrass, galangal, onion, cilantro, kaffir lime leaves ($16.95) | 4*
Spicy and sour flavors are pronounced in Oraan's Tom Yum soup. The ratio of vegetables to soup is just right, plenty of vegetables to the point where I'm not searching for them in the sea of soup.
KAPOW MOO KROB: crispy pork belly in spicy basil sauce, bell pepper, Thai chili, garlic ($19.95) | 5*
This dish is so flavorful with the extra crispy pork belly skin and crunchy fresh bell peppers. There's plenty of basil flavor and chili for a kick. Note this dish doesn't come with a side of rice.
SUKHO THAI NOODLE: rice noodle topped with ground pork, roasted pork, crispy pork, green bean, peanuts, chili in lime-fish sauce ($18.95) | 5*
This dish is sour, spicy, and very rich in flavor. The sauce/broth is pretty thick and over time the noodles absorb it all. There's several types of meat in this dish, so it gets relatively filling.
KA-NOM JEAN: rice noodle, vegetables, boiled egg with chicken curry paste ($18.95) | 3*
If you're looking for a simpler dish that's not too rich/heavy, this is a good option. There's plenty of vegetables and noodles, and the way this dish is presented, you can adjust the amount of chicken curry paste to use.
Overall Oraan has been wonderful with their food quality and service. There's several items on their menu that you don't see at the typical Thai restaurants in SF. I highly recommend Oraan and see myself returning frequently!Helpful 2Thanks 2Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

First time. We made reservations.
Service staff were friendly and accommodating.
We sat down at a table that is in the middle of the restaurant and requested to be reseated and our needs were met.
Ambiance is casual.
The food wait was not long.
Presentation is definitely above normal.
Everything was tasty and enjoyable.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information
