Want a neighborhood dive where the food is authentic and not overrun by tourists. Check.
Want a po boy that will leave you wondering why can't other places do this? Check.
Parasol's delivered big time on a recent visit. We had the fried oyster po boy. At $21, more than we'd normally spend but so worth it. Sandwich was bursting with fresh, perfectly cooked oysters. Scrumptious to the last bite.
We also had the roast beef. We thought it'd be more like a French dip. Not to be. Was more of a chopped version fully dressed. And it hit the mark, with reasonably priced beer to wash it all down. What more could you want?Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Daniel H.New Orleans, LA02420Mar 13, 2024
The food was good but service was slow and portions were lacking. Had the firecracker shrimp and roast beef poo boy's. Paid $15.50 for a 10 inch shrimp poo boy and seemed like there was less than 10 shrimp on the sandwich. The roast beef sandwich had just a couple slices of roast beef. Flavor on both sandwich's were good and the bread and toppings were fresh but definitely need more meat/seafood on the sandwiches for the price paid.
Love the outdoor seating! There is also inside seating if the weather is bad.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Christopher G.Royal Oak, MI2534311Feb 29, 2024
Had the roast beef. It was fantastic! 6 inch was entirely ugh to split it not super hungry. My wife had the shrimp poyboy . She wanted the fire cracker and thought it was just ok.
Staff and service was great. Bar is. Perfect dive bar.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 26, 2023
This establishment was the cutest little hidden gem that we found while visiting NOLA. Actually this place was features on triple D Foodnetwork. We ordered the beef po-boy and the muffaletta.
The Muffaletta although is a bit dryer it for sure was flavorful and that olive salad gave the sandwich all the flavors it needed
The Beef po-boy was very flavorful and juicy make sure you ask for dressed so that it comes with everything.
It's middle of a resident area and has outdoor sitting so if you go with your fury friends they can join you for some drinks and food.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 10, 2024
Actually stumbled on this place. Had Mahony's on the radar, but they were closed due to running out or bread, so we came here.
Love that it's out of downtown or busy main street. It's buried within the neighborhood at a subtle intersection. The staff was great. The food was very good with a nice variety.
Certainly recommend and would come back.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Fredric K.Manhattan, New York, NY01Aug 4, 2024
The last two times...terrible!
I've been a Parasol's regular for decades. Their oyster poorboy's used to be the best. However, recently they're terrible, small, over cooked, stale bread, rancid oil, and expensive. I now recommend Frady's at 3231 Dauphine Street in the Bywater. Tell Kirk I sent you...Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Bertha R.Montebello, CA912Jul 28, 2024
The Uber driver recommended this spot and did not disappoint. The roast beef po boy was excellent. Small local spot with a bar.

Oyster po-boy ordered in spite of a bad review recently but the guy was right. Small thin oysters cooked nearly to dust. Wouldn't have known they were oysters if I hadn't ordered it myself. Wife got catfish poboy, small triangles of fish like I'd get out of a frozen bag. Bread was stale all the way through. 21 bucks for oysters. Terrible. 40 minutes wait.

Don't get the Muff. It was really sad. The salami was like bologna, there was one thin slice of ham and the cheese was white American slices (ie one molecule away from plastic) and there was maybe one table spoon of the olive tapenade.
We had to get a roast beef poor boy for dessert because we couldn't eat that muff. The poor boy was done well but skimpy on the roast beef.
Guess we should've skipped straight to a poor boy.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 12, 2024
Okay let's get one thing out of the way. Parking here sucks. It's on the corner and close to a residential neighborhood. But please don't let this keep you from coming here and trying it.
Walked in and a super sweet gal named Carla took my order. She recommended either the firecracker or the beef sandwich. I wanted the broiled beef sandwich so here we go! Y'all this thing is delicious. And messy. You need a girl and knife to properly tackle it. But sadly the little to go plastic knife and fork wasn't able to conquer it. So I ate it deconstructed. No sweat. I improvised and overcame. Had fries on the side which were run of the mill fries but had a nice seasoning on them.
The gravy is salty. Very very salty. But also very very good. Take a water pill if you need it before hand, because you'll eat the whole dang sandwich.
Carla stopped me and asked how I liked it and gave my feedback and then said "next time you need the hot muffalata" so, when I'm here in Feb guess what I'm getting. You guessed it. That.
Carla is a sweetheart and made the experience great. See you soon!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1
