I do not know much about Vietnamese food. I do know that since trying it for the first time three weeks ago, I am hooked.

Pho Noi Viet is the fourth restaurant I have tried in that brief time. The food was very good, but the service seemed unreasonably slow.

Located on Magazine street in the block where it becomes two way traffic, there is only street parking available. This was not a problem as I was able to park within half a block of the restaurant.

Inside the restaurant was very attractive. My favorite feature was the two gas meters near the front door. You don't normally see gas meters so it had kind of an industrial feel to it. The door handle was also very cool as I exited.

Service was very friendly, but very slow. Our server was attentive, but the food took well over over 30 minutes from ordering to arrive. Normally I wouldn't mind a lengthy meal since it gives me time to talk, but for lunch, that was excessive. Because the entire meal took nearly 1.5 hours, I had to work late to make up the time lost at lunch.

The food was very good. I ordered the grilled pork bun (vermicelli noodles) with egg roll. This was my first experience with bun, but it was great. The egg roll in particular was very good. In fact, it was so good that it may have been the best egg roll that I have ever had. Unlike other egg rolls, it was loaded with "stuff" and pre-cut in the kitchen into several bite sized pieces. This saved me from trying to cut it (I had no knife), which normally leaves the "stuff" squirting out anyway.

Because the food was so great, I will be back. I just hope the next trip doesn't take as long.

After my 7th day of working I wanted something good and hearty. Picked a new spot to try and here I am, sitting in my living room.. during a pandemic.. wanting more...

In my experience it's kinda hard finding A Vietnamese restaurant in the city that doesn't close on Sunday's and that's open a little later than 5. BOOM both my boxes checked. Picked up and carried out bcos ya know that's life right now. What's for dinner? Chicken spring rolls the size of my head and lemon grass chicken.

So, let's dig into the springs rolls first. You know how some are chore and precious and for perfectly in your moth? Nahhh not these. I got the chicken Springrolls and they were firstly cooked to perfect. Secondly, so freaking good. Talk about the BEST band for your buck.

Now the main event. This lemon grass chicken. Presentation? Pretty. Cute. A stalk of lemon grass, a couple chili peppers and white rice. That first BITE tho, I'm telling you I couldn't get through the rest of my meal without writing this first. SAUCY, tangy, SPCIY,SEEET JEEZUMS. You mix the white rice into that yummy goodness and MAN OH MAN my tummy is doing cartwheels. Whewww, Ite gotta eat the rest of this. 10/10 would recommend. Will be ordering 100s again.

Excellent!!! We were on our way to another Vietnamese restaurant and saw this one on the way and stopped here as it smelled so good and was clean. We were immediately greeted when we walked in and sat socially distanced from other customers. Staff wears masks and the menus were attached to the table to avoid germs, We ordered fresh tofu spring rolls first. They were able to grill the tofu and it was cooked perfect. They don't add bean sprouts to their spring rolls which was a plus for us. The pho was flavorful and hot. The sides were fresh. The Thai tea is in my top 3, The server was nice and very considerate. Would definitely go back!

Very competent Vietnamese restaurant. The low rating is odd, though perhaps it comes down to personality as Lilly's nearby definitely has more character.

I ordered the curry tofu bun and was perfectly satisfied. There was plenty of tofu and tasty fresh toppings, and the portion was generous, so there were leftovers to enjoy later. I found the curry itself somewhat mild in flavor, so I made use of the hoisin and the hot pepper sauce to jazz things up.

The service was friendly, too, and prices were fair for what you get. Overall, a nice lunch, and a refreshingly cool place to eat on a hot day.

I judge a pho by it's broth. And I grew up near Little Saigon in Westminster California so my Pho taste bud game is STRONG. After a day's worth of Bouron St drinking in NOLA, I hit this spot up right around the corner from the pad.

Rock solid spot on pho. 5 STARS.

Service is also 5 star, genuine staff with a loyal local following. The server was visiting tables holding a baby from one their customers at another table!!!
Customers love these people and it made me go AWWWWWW

I've been on a pho kick lately so we stopped by here during our work trip to NOLA.

This area of town is absolutely adorable! We snagged a parking spot on the street using a parking meter.

We didn't have to wait at all for our table and were warmly greeted.

I ordered Pho with the eye round steak. This is always my go to pho order.

The broth was amazing! It's a little sweeter than some of our local pho which I liked. I didn't even want to add hoisin or sriracha sauce.

My only complaint is that I wish there had been more broth! I'm not a huge eater, I'm a pretty petite gal, and normally can't finish a "small" bowl of pho but I felt like the broth to noodle ratio was off for me. Maybe this was a smaller portion than I'm used to!

Our service was super fast. This is definitely an older restaurant so the atmosphere isn't crazy trendy or anything. Reminds me of some of the mom and pop restaurants back home!

Overall it was a great experience. Their food was delicious and I would definitely go back.

      It's ok.

Most of the Vietnamese restaurants on this side of the lake are closed on Mondays so we ventured here. Service was fine, food came out hot but the flavors were strange. I found the pho broth, while a beautiful color, very sweet. I wish I had the time to compare the pho to another restaurant in NoLa! Maybe this is how they like their broth in NoLa?

Their cha gio was wrapped in Chinese egg roll wrappers.. *eye roll* which is a major, MAJOR PET PEEVE of mine. The dipping sauce was good, love my fish sauce.

They also have pad thai on their menu which threw me off....

Not sure why the overall rating for this restaurant is 3.5. It should definitely be a 4-5 star rating. This place one of the best Pho Ga I've ever had (second best to Pho Ga from actual Vietnam)! Their bon me is pretty delicious yet authentic as well. We also ordered the chicken spring rolls which were tasty but I would have ordered the shrimp version if my husband didn't have dietary issues.

The prices are so affordable here and the portions are large. You really can't beat it. And the service is incredible! When our server found out we were on vacation in NOLA, he came back with a handwritten list of yummy local restaurants to visit. What a kind gesture! This is a place to visit and revisit.

Wow! Sure they were super friendly, super helpful, and super quick with putting the order together. All of that gets 5/5 BUT let me talk about that Rare Beef and Brisket Pho! First sip of the broth makes you want to forget about the ingredients of the Pho and just straight jug the broth down LOL. Then once you take a break from the broth and remember there is more than just broth in Pho, you get to taste the super tender beef and brisket, cooked to perfection rice noodles, and extremely fresh veggies and herbs. The bean sprouts had to be picked that morning, very crunchy, noticeably fresh. I LOVE spice and always add chili oil and/or sriracha to my asian noodle soups but it would have been straight disrespectful and taken away from the flavor of this wonderful broth. Even if you are a distance away, make the commute and come try a bowl of Pho from Pho Noi Viet!

This place isn't nearly as bad as my rating would make you think, but the reason for my review is simple. Relative to every other Vietnamese restaurant nearby, this place is below average. The service, atmosphere, quality of food are all below average.

If you want a phenomenal Vietnamese restaurant, just walk down a block to Lilly's Cafe to experience the best Vietnamese in the city. Seriously, you will not regret it.

The only reason I could see coming back here is if I'm really craving Vietnamese on a Sunday (Lilly's Cafe is closed on Sundays). Other than that, I will not be returning.

They serve some solid Vietnamese food at Pho Noi Vet.

Today was my first visit, but won't be my last, as I have been home for at least an hour and am still fondly thinking of the Bahn Mi I devoured.

My husband and I were looking for a place to eat lunch today and happened upon this place. From the outside if looks like a hole in the wall, and aren't those usually the neighborhood gems? Well this one is no different.

      Our server greeted us from
behind the counter when we walked in, and we were able to seat ourselves. He brought menus and then took our food and drink order just a couple of minutes later.

Our drinks were delivered right away, but our pork spring rolls took a little longer than I thought they would. No biggie though, we had nowhere to be.

The spring rolls were good, but not the best I'd had.

Another little stretch later we received our entrees.

Now for the bahn mi. Holy smokes - it was sooooo good! The first thing I noticed was the bread. Oh, goodness, that bread!!! It was so fluffy, so crunchy on the outside, so soft on the inside - I love bread!!!! And the pork had this unique peppery flavor. Not crazy spicy, but really flavorful. It was dressed with fresh cucumbers, cilantro, carrots, and a Heavenly mayo type sauce. I (begrudgingly) gave my husband a piece of this delicious treat, and then realized that I might just want it back. It was too late, and he loved it too.

I swear I ate so fast, that I was embarrassed when I looked down and saw that my plate was empty. My husband still had a 1/2 bowl of his pork vermicelli. I had to sit there and watch him finish, while just wanting another half bahn mi.

I tried my husband's pork vermicelli bowl, and I liked it, but not like I liked the bahn mi.

Okay, I'm done. I really want another 1/2 bahn mi.
