All hail to the queen !!! Whoa! This place was an awesome find and I gotta give a shout out to my fellow yelper @jchawlz for giving me the inside scoop on this gem. It's a little tough to find (on dryades about 3-4 blocks downtown from Louisiana) but boy once you do, you are in for a treat. I had the sandwich special for the day (coco bread fish sandwich) and it was special.

The first thing I have to talk about is the bread. This bread was awesome. White bread, spongy, sweet (from milk in the dough) and the perfect bread for this sandwich (it was almost cake like it was so good). Next is the fried fish. The breading was perfect thickness with just enough for a crunch. The seasoning was salty but just enough to compliment the rest of the dish and then followed by a little heat as well. The fish was flaky and not mushy at all. Lastly, the toppings. The perfect compliment to the bread and fish. Fresh and flavorful and included cucumber and pineapple, yum! It was honestly almost like a Jamaican banh mi sandwich and one of the most unique and flavorful dishes I have had in a while!!

Definitely check our QueenTrini Lisa's spot, she knows what she's doin for sure.

Delicious comfort food of Trinidad! Yummm! Packed up to go and affordable and really it's a meal for 2 in 1! The "doubles" are delicious and tasty (and vegetarian). The curry chicken is just lovely! I even enjoyed the spinach, plantains and the rice and beans! If you get lucky to get her freshly made sauces you're in for a treat! The tamarind one is perfect! And the medium hot sauce one is so nice! And the spicier one is just right too! Just knock on the door and they'll have your meal ready to go!

Food is always delicious. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The fish is so flavorful. It's battered in cornmeal thankfully! The jerk chicken is wonderful is well. And the sorrel is amazing! I could drink it daily!!

The doubles can only be described as INSANELY good. I had never had them before but it's basically like a small pita like bread wrapped around a bunch of curry flavored chicken peas. It have a very low spice tolerance so I thought it had a bit of a kick even without the hot sauce but my guess is that most people probably wouldn't detect the spice. For those of you that like spice it comes with hot sauce too. It also comes with this sweet brown sauce that is almost like a sweet balsamic. Don't make the same mistake I did, the doubles are not an appetizer. The box comes with two and can be a meal.

However I'm not exactly mad that I also got the BBQ jerk chicken. First of all it was a ton of food so I didn't make a dent in it after the doubles. However I did make sure to try the chicken and plantains. The chicken was really good, great flavor and perfectly cooked. The plantains were just okay though. I love sweet plantains so I was super excited that it came with the dish. Unfortunately they were a bit dry. Not the worst I've ever had but not the best. The way I feel about plantains I typically would eat them all even if I was stuffed but I was able to resist having another one of these. However they weren't bad enough that I could prevent myself from finishing the one I bit into.

My partner kept muttering of her double "I could eat one of these every day for lunch and be so happy." We also shared the fried fish plate with cabbage and spinach. You don't have to pay a fortune or eat in fancy surroundings to enjoy delicious food-go to Portside Lounge and be happy you did. Queen Trini Lisa needs to find a benefactor to make her food truck dream come true.

I love Lisa and her food sooooo much (maybe too much). She is one of the kindest souls in this planet plus she makes AMAZING food!! I have always loved her doubles. Go try them. They're ridiculous. I finally tried the fish sandwich from Chef Lisa over at and to no surprise, it was ridiculously good!!! Think crispy fried fish, sweet plantains, and slightly sweet coco (coconut) bread!

OMG, I am so full. The food has "flava" not flavor! Delicious island food. The sandwich with coco bread melted in my mouth. The service was great. Location was real cool also.

Amazing. Been rocking with Lisa since the corner store days. First hit and I was hooked! Not only is the food fantastic but it's one of the few places where I can feel good about what I'm ordering because it's mostly veggies. She recently put me up on sorrel, too...what a lovely beverage! Overall: highly recommended!

Wow! This place exceeded my expectations. I used to get great Caribbean food just like this when I lived in Brooklyn and was pleased to find this gem hidden in New Orleans. I got the BBQ chicken plate with cabbage, rice and peas and plantains . The chicken is fall off the bone and seasoned to perfection. The cabbage is amazing and the rice and peas is very spot on! I'd order this again any day.
