A popular spot yet a hole in the wall at the same time. Love the look of this place and how the side alleyway leads to the bar in the back. Decided to stop by after work one day. Bartender was cool and explained some drinks I wasn't familiar with.
Got the Jammin Julep, which was so delicious, and the prime rib melt. Man...I honestly didn't expect such good food from this place but the prime rib melt was impressive. Super flavorful and juicy prime rib on a toasty airy bread.
Another spot added to my regular rotations, WILL be back to try more of the menu in the near future.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

An unassuming casual eatery on Magazine Street, once inside you will find reclaimed wood throughout as a stylistic statement and an inviting atmosphere.
They offer delicious sandwiches and pizzas! My roasted turkey club was amazing! It was chock full of roasted turkey in between yummy wheat focaccia, and adorned with gruyere cheese, tomato, red onion, fresh arugula and a dollop of tart cranberry relish. It came with perfectly seasoned crispy fries.

Excellent. We came on a Sunday morning for breakfast. Hot chocolate and chocolate milk, Very Berry Waffle, and Tasso Shrimp and Grits. The waffle was seriously so good, not too sweet for me. Perfect, really. My husband said the shrimp and grits was also very flavorful. Afterwards we ordered That B*tch Katrina to split. Very cherry forward take on a hurricane. Really good.
Staff was friendly, the vibe was laid back. We will definitely return.
Edit: Okay, we returned. This time, they didn't carry hot chocolate. The holistic adderall brew was okay, but definitely not worth $7. Husband had the Crusted Crab & Eggs Sardou and said it was really good. I had the Banana Pecan Waffle. It wasn't bad, but I didn't like it nearly as much as the Very Berry Waffle.
Here's my gripe: the first time we came, we sat in the front at one of the booths, no complaints. This time we were seated in the back, where they have those horribly uncomfortable metal chairs. You know the ones where anyone with slightly wider hips has two metal bars jammed into their sides? It actually hurts to sit in them. I think we will only come back if we can sit in the front.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

I've been three times since reopening and it's just not the same. Sent food back twice for being too cold. Manager is more worried about garnishing plates than serving them hot. Thirds time was less than average. Spinach was overdone and dry in the eggs Sardou. I used to love this place and it's just to what it was.

Wow! Best grits we've had so far! The beet pizza is SO good. Chad the bartender in the Back Alley Bar is super cool. He was a good sport with our silliness! Great happy hour 3p-7p.

There are many brunch options in New Orleans. Red Dog Diner is one that should be high on your list to visit (frequently) for a fantastic brunch.
Ambiance - very laid back and casual
Service - everyone was friendly and service was fast
Food - so so fresh and delicious!!! We had the homemade pimento cheese dip, sweet potato pancakes, and the crusted crab and egg sardou. Highly recommend all of these!
Drinks - Bloody Mary and Irish Coffee - fantastic brunch drinks!
Do yourself a favor - the next time you are looking for a delicious brunch - visit Red Dog Diner - you will not be disappointed!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

This place has some awesome food. Came here on a Sunday, we were seated right away. Our waitress was a bit slower, but we weren't in a rush.
I had the Joe Blow with a blueberry pancake. The pancake was my favorite part. The eggs needed a little flavor but nothing salt and pepper couldn't fix. My wife had the crab spaghetti and that was super tasty. The crab was fresh and the flavors were bomb.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Red Dog was one of the first places I ate when moving here, and I was so bummed that it shuttered shortly thereafter. Then, the rumor on Magazine was that they were making a comeback... Well, the day has finally come when people can go back to eat there whenever they'd like. There is a front part to the restaurant, and then the back part which is connected to their back alley bar.
It has a cute ambiance, although eating on a heavily humid/high-heat day can be a little taxing as the front is kept open, and the back alley bar is open as well, creating borderline uncomfortable heat. I was seated in the direct path of a large fan, but hot air blowing is still hot. It definitely kept me from staying around longer than I needed to.
The service was excellent, and the food was every bit as wonderful as I remembered. I had the pulled pork omelet, and even though it was big enough to (probably) share, I certainly didn't and I had no regrets thereafter. I mean, it was my only meal that day because it left me so full, but such is life.
Definitely a great place to go, I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quality meal that won't break the bank on Magazine St.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Really nice staff! She checked on us frequently. It wasn't busy when we went on a Sunday afternoon. I had chicken salad sandwich with the fries. I've never had fries quite like these (in shape). I liked them. Not complaining. Husband had the Reuben. His step-sister had the salmon salad which looked fresh and delicious. She said the salmon was very good.
The location is on Magazine street. Not fancy. A bit worn as is common in older New Orleans buildings but otherwise was suitable. Good view of the activity on Magazine. I would go again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 2Business owner information

Super tasty. Good portion sizes. It was a slow weekday and everything went well with service. The staff was friendly and attentive. The space was cozy, and they played good music. The pimento cheese had a little kick and the pickled onion and bread and butter pickles were a good addition to make the snack more interesting. Love pimento cheese but it could be a lot on its own so I appreciate that. I didn't try the salmon but my partner enjoyed. The shrimp and grits with poached eggs was like 2 meals in one. Definitely shareable! It was like an order of eggs Benedict, but instead of the pieces of ham on the Benedict, they gave you another delicious, amazing order of shrimp and grits. I could see how they could be a busy brunch spot.
