    About the Business

Ruby Slipper brings the unique flavors and hospitality of New Orleans to our all-day brunch and eye-opening cocktails. We use fresh and local ingredients whenever possible, prepare food to order from our scratch kitchen, and give back to the communities we serve.

    Ask the Community

    • Q:

Can we make a breakfast reservation?

      A:

No, but you can add your name to the waitlist on their website. BUT... you still need to get there and check in face to face to make it official. Expect a long wait.

    • Q:

Do they take online reservations? I see conflicting info on their website vs yelp reviews.

      A:

They don't take online reservations but you can put your name on the list for a specific time and when you arrive the wait time is 10-15 minutes

After waking up at 3:30 am for a 5:30 flight out of Boston, needless to say I was STARVING when I arrived at my conference hotel in New Orleans. A friend of a friend recommended Ruby Slipper for a solid place to grab a quick bite, and since it was within walking distance in a downpour, that was all I needed to give it a go!

After my last experience in NOLA (French Quarter Urgent Care -- see review), I am obviously a tiny bit leery of whatever I ingest this time around -- but my fears were totally unnecessary for this first meal back; everything was amazing! Our waitress was spunky and attentive, but not overbearing; the house Bloody Mary had just the right hint of spice; and my biscuits and eggs were cooked perfectly (eggs over-medium)! The staff even came over to apologize for "the wait," for our food, which was seriously 10 minutes, max -- and that was *after* one of our plates accidentally hit the floor on its way out of the kitchen!

If you're looking for a good breakfast/brunch option near the French Quarter but without the premium prices or walks of shame, I definitely recommend The Ruby Slipper (and they'll even give you To Go cups for those bloodies when you want to head out!).

The food is absolutely delicious and our server, Rosa, was THE BEST. Request Rosa and order the Fried Green Tomatoes, neither will disappoint.

Good was amazing. Essie is the best waitress ever and gave great advice on food options. The chicken is where it's at! We have been to several locations and the Decatur street location is one of our favorites. We WILL definitely be back.

Alejandro is the best server we've ever had. The food was amazing but just a bonus. Will come back every time in NOLA.

Margarita flight is limited time but they do have the margarita separate all year round my favorites were the watermelon super refreshing and the blueberry just the right amount of tart. The mimosa flight is available all year round

The eggs Benedict was perfect and the biscuit was super fluffy, thick, and soft the egg was cooked to perfection so easy to get the perfect bite.

French toast bite are by far my favorite and a must have crunch and sweet with the praline sauce but not overly sweet and just amazing over all.

The service was amazing friendly staff and fast service Monica was and amazing server.

We needed a restaurant that had gluten-free options for my wife to enjoy breakfast, and she found it in the Ruby Slipper. She had options to choose between their omelets and their shrimp and grits. I went for their Trifecta of Benedicts, which (wasn't gluten-free, but I knew this) sent me into a food coma, but it was worth it.

Located on Magazine Street in NOLA's Central Business District, Ruby Slipper is a happening place for brunch whose motto is "Life is brunch beyond." If you can grab a table inside, it's a very bright and lively atmosphere. They also offer outdoor seating on Magazine Street.

We had an initial order of pig candy bacon bites, which are essentially broken-off pieces of candied bacon. While the presentation wasn't great, it was still pretty tasty. And it's bacon. Candied bacon.

Their bacon bloody marys are pretty good there, while their Trifecta of Benedicts will leave you with leftovers unless you are a competitive eater. All of them are solid, with the Chicken Saint Charles being my favorite of the three.

Very touristy, but keeps its promise as a great place for brunch!
The service was familial with refills aplenty!

Get yourself a flight of mimosas and settle in.

I got the shrimp and grits- SO DANG GOOD!! The perfect meal after a crazy night on Bourbon street.
The biscuits meet the NOLA standard of delicious.
Spread some butter and fresh preserves on as a perfect starter or dessert.
Accommodating for our group of 10, reasonable prices (cheaper than most), so make a reservation and go here!

Look. I wanted to like this place. I really did. Breakfast is my favorite meal when on vacation. I'll begin with the positives. The service: amazing. Friendly, attentive, great. No complaints. The sweet tea? Best I had while in New Orleans. The restaurant itself was cute and clean.
My meal though was a bit off. I ordered the Tex mex egg thing, Migas. It has eggs, pico, cheese, chorizo. I order these kinds of things all the time at restaurants. When mine came it was super soggy. The eggs were soupy. They were also a bit bland. Chorizo tasted ok but as a first meal before you go about walking in 95 degree weather and 60% humidity, I didn't want soggy eggs in my stomach. I didn't eat much. The texture just didn't sit right. My husbands meal was fine. But...meh. It was just.....bad. Sorry, this seems like a favorite in the area but a pass for me. There are sooooo many other great places to get breakfast.

Probably one of the worst eggs Benedict I've had in my life. Fried tomato on top tastes like it's been sitting in a fryer for days. Hollandaise was not hollandaise. Biscuit was alright...eggs were tiny as you can see in the pic.

Salad was good..but it was a few greens with dressing

Service was no good. Got there at 750 and made an order within a few minutes. Food came 2 minutes later and I picked through it. Was out by 812. Server put the receipt on my table while I was eating and walked away.

Table was wet when they sat me down.

Great service and a deliciously hearty breakfast. The biscuit was bigger than my fist. The course ground grits were so textured and flavorful. Eggs done right and a bonus fried green tomato. What a cool spot to start off the day.

The Ruby Slipper is a must for breakfast or brunch while in New Orleans. Be prepared to stand in line on the weekends.

I got lucky and was able to sit at the bar without having to wait. I ordered the Bananas Foster French Toast and bacon. The French toast was delicious and so satisfying. The bar tender was great he made sure I was okay while making every drink in the restaurant. The menu offers a lot of options so there's something for everyone.

The restaurant is a fun vibe great for a group of friends!
