We are a restaurant and bar off the beaten path in the south end of downtown Colorado Springs specializing in designer cocktails, delicious food, and slick atmosphere. ifyky.

Is Shuga's wheelchair accessible?
A:
No. I use a walker, and found the space between tables was tight. The restroom is ADA. There are also a couple of steps up from the sidewalk to the door. Sorry!

We shared a few brunch items and enjoyed them all. I particularly liked the quiche, which was a perfectly fluffy consistency. The french toast was unique, with a (cereal?) coated crunchy top and a decadent berries preserve spread. The fried eggs and the sourdough toast with the yummy fig preserves and goat cheese were both great. The bacon was just okay; some pieces were definitely meatier than others.

The brunch cocktail Orange Laughter was made for me! I loved all the ingredients in this very pretty cocktail: gin, aperol, blood orange and bubbles.

This place is lively and vibrant! It's fun to sit at the bar and watch the bartenders make magic happen (warning: it also makes you thirstier!) The decor is cute and I particularly loved the many origami cranes hanging from the ceiling.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - 383185496Jun 18, 2024
Got the Cuban Mojo sandwich with some Spicy Brazilian Coconut Shrimp Soup and it was fantastic. Both things tasted so delicious, and the soup really exceeded my expectations. Also tried the Northwest Pita Sandwich with a cup of ramen and while the sandwich tasted amazing, I'd rate the ramen 1/5 - it didn't taste good at all.
Overall, definitely enjoyed the meals and I'd highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in Colorado Springs or just visiting.Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sean M.Littleton, CO0938Jun 11, 2024
Shuga's is great. Nice interior (though tiny) and really cool, eclectic outdoor seating area. They also have a large yurt/tent which increases the number of tables with sides that can be opened or closed depending on the weather.
Our server was outstanding, and it seemed the employees working other tables nearby were, also.
The drink list is great fun with interesting twists on standards. The menu is not huge, but I always find that to be a good thing. I had the Phellini sandwich and Mykonos Sunbath salad, both of which were delicious. Others in the party had the Northwest Pita and the Coconut Shrimp soup and were also very happy. We all enjoyed the Mediterranean Fare plate and the Bruschetta as apps, and devoured the Key Lime Pie and some kind of chocolate cake for dessert.
I have no doubt we will go back to try more goodies, though I'd like to see more vegetarian options.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Aug 1, 2024
Shuga's is a lively, quirky cafe with a menu of global eats with influences from the Mediterranean, Latin America, and more! Shuga's Favorite Cafe Tray was a nice sampler of their best items, including "Mediterranean fare," a trio of hummus, olive tapenade, and goat cheese dip with grilled pita; bruschetta topped with mozzarella, tomato, and basil; Aracelli Nicoise, a salad of greens, house-smoked salmon, boiled egg, potato, olives, red onions, tomatoes, and capers; and the most distinctive item, a spicy Brazilian coconut shrimp soup, a creamy, spicy coconut broth with shrimps. For dessert came a wedge of almond butter cake, a dense, chewy, sweet cake drizzled with honey and topped with whipped cream. There were so many different flavors featured on this metal platter, but my favorite was probably the spicy coconut soup. Aside from the tasty, reasonably priced food, the vibe and service at this restaurant stood out as well!

They had a lot of empty tables at 2pm on Sunday and a 15-20 min wait. I'm guessing staffing issues. I got my food before the drink. I had the Shuga Drink and it was the only thing that made this first time visit worth it. I came here because of the reviews so I was disappointed. The spicy shrimp soup tasted old and was a thin and runny soup. I love spicy food and soup but this was so bad, I didn't eat it. The Cuban sandwich was ok... I could've just caught them on an off day and that can happen.

Hi Peggy, sorry for the disappointment. well, hmmm- we were fully staffed and very busy today (by our standards, at least) mostly on the back patio and in the yurt; very few people want to sit inside this time of year, which i see is where you were seated. its all yurt, patio, yurt, patio, patio, patio. so thats why there was a wait. we have to pace for the sake of the our tiny kitchen.
from time to time we get that feedback in the summer when everyone is in the yurt and on the patio: “empty tables and a wait?” and i get it. there’s a lot going on thats not visible when you’re seated inside. makes total sense that that would be the perception.
about the soup, though! I’m sorry it didn’t live up to your expectations. it is a thin soup, yes, by design but certainly not old. we sell so much of it we have have to make it everyday, sometimes twice a day. just in case, though i will investigate further and make sure it was made correctly. that soup is usually such a yummy pleaser. a definitely a local treasure for the last 2 decades.
well, anyhow, Peggy, swing back and give us another shot… and let me know when you do and i’ll surprise you with something.

Meh. I've been to versions of this restaurant a thousand times in every town I ever travel to. Little boards, bruschettas, and other Mediterranean snacks, some average sandwiches that don't seem to have any unifying theme. Eclectic, artsy decor. Just feels like there are a million of these places. It's fine if it's in your neighborhood, but certainly wasn't noteworthy food or anything I'd get off the road for again. Server was nice.

Excellent sweet/savory brunch menu. I had some french toast dish with eggs and bacon that was awesome. It was a great blend of sweet and savory though the french toast was a bit harder to cut through than I would have liked. I dont think the knife was up to the task. But I'm nitpicking
The cocktails were also excellentHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jessica M.Colorado Springs, CO263336Aug 3, 2024
Great food, epic vibes. Gets a little loud during busy times but the food makes up for it. Treat yourself to a fancy cocktail or indulge in the extra bread with your shrimp soup. This place is meant to savor!
