Q:
Would a group of 9 be able to find seating together on a Friday night?
A:
There's definitely tables that would accommodate 9 but we went on a Saturday morning and there was plenty of room. No idea what the dinner crowd looks like though.
Kathy S.6 years agoQ:
How busy would it be at around the afternoon (1:30ish) on a Sunday? If two people had two suitcases would it be too much to fit at a table?
A:
It's not crazy busy on Sundays. You should be okay.

The Salted Pearl has my favorite raw oysters in the city and my favorite shrimp cocktail. I have to stop myself from just sitting at their bar and eating all day- you must try! The charbroiled oysters are delicious, too, and I heard multiple people ordering the lobster mac and cheese so that's next.
What made today's happy hour visit more special was the shucker (shucktress?!) Victoria. Shucking oysters is serious manual labor and not only is she a pro, she engaged with her patrons and was so amiable. Even with a person who rudely addressed her, Victoria didn't miss a beat in professionalism- a hard task for anyone working with the public. I will truly be back, not only for the best raw oysters and shrimp cocktail, but to have the best service and personality in hospitality- Victoria.
*Don't miss trying the delicious salt concoction on the oysters- fantastic!
I have to give a shoutout to the bartender during happy hour, as well. I wish I had asked his name!! He was a true professional, too, as well as just being a sweet, funny, decent person.
Finding gems like this in the service industry is hard so I hope they are treated and paid accordingly. Wonderful experience tonight and can't wait to go back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 57516492287May 7, 2024
I've been to NOLA a few times but mainly spent time in the French Quarter and Warehouse District. My coworker recommended I check out St. Roch Market since it's where he and his family often frequent when they visit New Orleans. They specifically go for the oysters. That being said, I thought St. Roch Market was a seafood restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised to find a communal space with several food vendors. My friends and I checked out St. Roch Market around 12pm on a Monday. About half of the vendor stands were open, so we split up and tried different things.
CR Coffee Shop - I got the sweet vanilla cream cold brew, which was what the doctor ordered. It had the perfect amount of sweetness.
Family Cajun Kitchen - Their creamy garlic butter parmesan chicken was so flavorful and had a kick from the Cajun seasoning. Loved the roasted pepper taste.
Taceaux Loceaux - Ordered a brisket and bulgogi taco. These were very tasty, but the side of beans were absolute fire!
The Salted Pearl - I had a bad experience with Charbroiled oysters at a spot in the French Quarter and never gave them a shot again. My friend got a dozen of Salted Pearl's, which looked 1000x's better than the ones I tried before. They tasted as good as they looked. The oysters were plump and juicy, and I liked the cheesy bake on top.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Aug 6, 2024Updated review
We visited the market again after many years of skipping it. There are new vendors to try. We enjoyed the spring rolls at Slow and Pho (they were huge!) and the drip coffee, vanilla latte, and salted caramel cookie from Coast Roast. There is a super friendly bartender at the bar at the end of the market (which also has an excellent happy hour). There was a new charcuterie business at the end of the hall too (which we didn't try). If you haven't been by the market in a while, give it another chance. It is still pricey and may be warm and crowded inside. Still worth a visit if you're in the area.
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0May 11, 2021Previous reviewFirst tip: avoid Elysian seafood! The extremely rude staff and food were both horrible. We ordered at 11 am on Sunday morning and then waited 45 minutes (!!!) for a very pricey reheated crab cake sandwich and "bbq shrimp" poboy (note that this is not normal bbq, there is no traditional bbq sauce). Neither were good, and that's an insane wait for two reheated sandwiches. When I approached the staff (one of whom was cooking and I can't figure out what if anything the other person was doing), they both raised their voices and said I just had to wait my turn. When I pointed out that all the 10 groups that had ordered after us had already been served, they insisted that I was wrong. I finally figured out that they were doing the orders in BACKWARDS order. So the people that ordered before us received their food AFTER us.... The bad food and horrible service really left a bad taste in our mouths.
Keep in mind that most of these places are reheating food that is prepared elsewhere. It is fun to go and pick out food from different vendors, and the market does hold different activities during the week (for example, art market outside on Sundays). The other vendors and staff were VERY sweet and nice, so if you avoid Elysian seafood you will enjoy yourself. As some other reviewers have said, everything is a bit pricey.
Since we live in the area, we are going to stick to going to other restaurants and get a sit down, full service meal for the same price.
Street parking in the neighborhood can be difficult depending on the time of day. - Jul 27, 20245 check-ins
I went to pass time before a nearby event. I wanted a place I could grab some wine, sit in the cool air or patio if I wanted to enjoy the summer heat, and even order food if need be. I was luckily there during happy hour so wine was $7 a glass. The bartender was very chill and attentive to all guests seated.

In a neighborhood full of murals is a food hall. With free onsite parking, St. Roch Market is one open space with a handful of vendors selling coffee, tacos, pho, and more. For lunch, my wife enjoyed the pho and I the laksa (a Malaysian soup). After eating, the staff bus your food for you.

New spot open in the Market today! Lunch. You have to go try their AHHHMAZING sandwiches! The fresh made bread and quality meats, cheeses and spreads are delicious! I cannot stress how good this place is! What a great addition to the Market! I hope they are there to stay!

Weird. I'm pretty sure that I've reviewed St Roch Market before but it's not there now. The market has had it's ups and downs since opening in 2015. It's currently under new management. And it shows!
Compared to my trip around MG, my visit last month was a whole new venue! Vendor booths were almost completely filled and there was a good variety of food and drinks offered. My Mom had a falafel wrap and I had a sushirito both were delicious. It was Mom's first trip and she really enjoyed wandering through.
I'm glad to see the Market back on the upswing! And I can't wait to stop by again soon.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 7, 2024
Wow the market has made a turn around! The last time I was there many of the vendor stalls were empty and there were only a few people who came in. This Sunday the place was bustling with people and there were so many vendors! I got a plate of nachos from Taceaux Loceaux and a mango margarita that was a special for Cinco de Mayo. The tacos and margarita were both delicious! I'm glad that they've turned the place around and we'll be back!

I love running in to st. Roch for coffee in the morning at cost roast.
Today I ran in and grabbed a biscuit from fried and true... dude it wasn't done! Ewww... it was pretty good until o got a mouthful of dough!
I will have to say any other time I've gone I've gotten good service and food. It's pricey but you get to choose from different types of food in one place! So I say go give it a go it's worth it.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
