Everything I tried was amazing! I was so excited to try vegan soul food I ordered two plates so I could sample most of the menu. It was wonderful to eat soul food favorites I haven't been able to eat since going vegetarian. The Mac n Cheese and Bread Pudding were an absolute delight! Very yummy!

This food truly hit my soul. Some of the tastiest vegan food I've had in my life.
Had eggplant lasagne, Mac n cheese, orange cauliflower, jambalaya
Also tried some vegan gumbo, creole curry and sweet potato.
The ladies working here were so nice, southern hospitality is definitely a thing. They let me try a few items before making my final decision.
Can't forget the cornbread. Will returnHelpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jul 11, 2024Updated review
When I want to reward myself for a job well done, getting out of bed, or heck just surviving another day I go to Sweet Soulfood. See lemmme take ya back. I used to date this vegan that took me here and my life had never been the same! Much like their name, Sweet soulfood has just that , sweet helpful employees that make the experience just as good as the food . The food is always hot and fresh. It's such a unique way of combining vegan and soul. Theres not much more I can say other than RUN don't walk. You will not be disappointed!
Also you get so much food, I've never missed a meal in my life and I still can't finish the portions in one sitting!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jun 30, 2022Previous reviewBest best best vegan food I've ever had!!! I've been about 7 times since moving to New Orleans and each time is like the first time!!! The portions are HUGE!!! Run don't walk

The food is here absolutely amazing!! All vegan and still has fantastic flavor. We had Mac and cheese, orange chixen, mashed potatoes, cornbread, jambalaya, okra gumbo, and dirty rice. ALL of it was great and all vegan.
The staff is very nice and very Eric behind the service counter where they serve plates of soul food goodness after you pick 1, 2, 3, or 4 items for your plate. The lemonade and pralines were delicious also.
The location is easy to get to and everything is clean and open. Highly recommendHelpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Gina R.Birmingham, AL273754Jul 31, 2024
We were visiting the Crescent City and came across the restaurant on Yelp. We arrived in time to order. I was so excited! I ordered the orange cauliflower, curried vegetables over rice, okra gumbo with a bit of rice, and the mac & cashew cheese and a green goodness! It was sooooo good! My hubby ordered the sweet potatoes, greens, rice with the "pot liquor" from the red beans and the Mac & cashew cheese. It was all very delicious! It hit the spot for me.
While serving cafeteria style, they ask if you have any nut allergies due to the cashew Mac & cheese. It was a comfortable environment with a nice mural of Dr. Sebi on the wall. Definitely a place that I'd visit again. Good food. Good people. Good environment and good prices!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 29, 2024
Truly one of the best vegan soul food places I have ever been to. I stop in there at least twice every time I'm in New Orleans. I like to get their 4 plate option for around $15. Their menu rotates daily, but I'd say 1/3 of the menu remains the same in some way, everyday. Hey !
Just check on their site before you go.
It's cafeteria style and the line has always moved quickly. If it doesn't.. it gives ya more time to decided what to get.
The servings are hefty and it's always more than enough for two meals, for me at least. When you get to the check out, make sure to grab some cornbread and/or a brownie. They're huge pieces for I think, $3 or $3.50 !
My favorite dishes that I've tried thus far are both the sweet heat & bbq cauliflower, the bread pudding w/ sauce, potato salad, loaded potatoes and the CASHEW MAC. Don't skip the Mac y'all. I also really wanna try their Creole Curry sometime.
Everything is so flavorful. I wish I knew how they made their cream sauce for the cashew mac, it's incredible. The potato salad flavors are out of this world. You can taste the southern twist compared to a typical mustard potato salad. The bread pudding with the rum sauce tastes like a warm hug. Love. It. All.
Vegan or not, I think this place is worth a visit, if you enjoy delicious comfort food. And like I said, don't forget the cornbread.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jessalin N.Houston, TX01115Jul 23, 2024Updated review
So so good! Went back and tried different sides this time. Also tried the ice cream and there's such a wide variety! The cherry vanilla tasted coconut-y which can be good if you like it.
The servers are so so sweet and let you try some of the food. Ended up testing the soursop ginger juice and LOVED it
The inside is such a clean and nice look, love the wall colorsHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jul 18, 2024Previous reviewDelicious!!! The bread pudding is to die for and the sweet heat cauliflower was so good that even my non vegan family was gobbling it up

Came here before heading to the airport and it was wonderful. The food tasted amazing! My favorites were the barbecue cauliflower and the fried cauliflower with sweet heat sauce. The macaroni and cheese was excellent, as was the cornbread. I haven't liked collard greens or okra much in the past, but I enjoyed both here. Bread pudding was also great.
It's cafeteria-style and the line moves quickly. Wasn't super busy when we arrived shortly after they opened at 11 but by noon it was pretty full.
Staff were friendly and wanted to make sure you knew that everything was vegan, even if it looked like meat.
Great value for the amount of food you get too. My spouse and I each got a four-item plate which essentially served as 2-3 meals for each of us throughout our travel day.
Highly recommend to anyone in New Orleans looking for vegetarian or vegan options.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dec 2, 2023
I will jump on this train. Fantastic vegan food and I'm not vegan but I try to avoid dairy. Hard to do unless you go to a vegan place :)
Enjoyed everything I had. The ramalaud sauce was so good with fried mushrooms I bought one to take home. The Mac and cheese was good, not the best but better than a lot as it didn't have a strange taste as most do. Not quite normal Mac but still good. The creole curry was great. Bought cornbread cause had to and glad I did. Bread pudding was delicious! The green juice was awesome.
Really dig the place, can't wait to come back to try their ice creams but electricity was out so they had none :(Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 4Oh no 0 - Keiana H.Kenner, LA11418Jun 24, 2024
