About the Business
Taconeta is a locally-owned modern taqueria specializing in tortillas made using heirloom corn from Mexico, nixtamalization, and a volcanic stone mill. All of our tacos, sides, margaritas, and aguas frescas are made daily using only fresh ingredients. We operate out of an exterior-accessed taco window. Guests place orders at the window, receive a number, and are free to seat at any table on a first-come-first-serve basis. We encourage guests to start a tab at the window when ordering to allow you to continue ordering from the table. Servers are present throughout the dining areas and happy to bring additional items once seated and can settle up any open tabs at the end.

Amazing service, delicious food, and a really cool place, this was a highly recommended spot that we had to try out during our time in El Paso.
It was a bit confusing to find at first since the block is a collection of stores, but once we saw the outdoor seating and ordering window we figured it out. It was quite busy for early evening on Friday so we sat at the bar, which was fun because we got to watch everyone (and there were lots) come by to get food and drinks.
We started with the tostadas, which were just packed with guacamole, seeds, and raisins and were super flavorful - I was surprised by how much the raisins added to it; We also got 4 tacos, which weren't the biggest but were really good. And the sweet potatoes that were charred and nicely seasoned.
Our bartender was very helpful in offering different mezcal and letting us try some things somewhat local to the area and we really appreciated and liked it all.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1 - Jun 19, 20241 check-in
Fun times tasting the El Paso Mexican fare.
This location was next to a coffee shop and had a private parking lot on its opposite side. It has indoor and covered outdoor seating. When we got there for a later dinner it was almost busy...we ordered and then a line formed at the counter.
I think Liz ordered one of everything. She came back with two refreshing and delicious margaritas. The tacos and elote were great. We had a lot.
The aguachile de camaron was light and spicy. Billed as shrimp in a spicy cucumber lime juice, with ginger, Serrano, and cilantro, garnished with avocado and pickled onion. Really good, not filling at all.
My favorite taco was Baja shrimp, but I also enjoyed the suadero. The suadero taco was a preserved brisket with cilantro and onion. The baja shrimp was a tempura fried shrimp with cabbage slaw and a Chile mayo drizzle.
I enjoyed an elote on a stick (and I'm a cup). By the bite or by the spoonful, every bite tasted of chili powder, lime and corika cheese.
It was a wonderful experience at taconeta.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Daniel G G.Laguna Beach, CA1570204329Jun 4, 2024
I was in El Paso for a conference and met with local friends for lunch. They know I like trying new places when I visit, and they suggested Taconeta.
The menu looked fresh, diverse, and the photos looked tasty. I had the feeling I would get a meal that would satisfy and without being overwhelming.
I ordered two tacos: Suadero Taco: Brisket Confit, Salsa Goku, Guacamole, Onions and cilantro. Pollo Taco: Achiote Marinated Grilled Chicken, Guacamole, Onion, Cilantro.
I also ordered Mexican-Style Shrimp Cocktail: With Tomato, Clam Juice, Avocado, Cilantro, Cucumber, and Poached Shrimp. Served with Tostadas.
I took the bartender's suggestion for my drink and had the Pepino Lime Agua Fresca. It went great with the food and helped bring down the El Paso heat!
The only negative is the salsa wasn't hot. I like some spice in my tacos. We went during lunch time and sat at the bar, it made conversation difficult. I prefer a quieter atmosphere.
Overall, I would visit again and try more items on the menu. Pick a quieter time and wait for a table. I wish I could remember the bartender's name; he was so cool.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 14, 2024
Insanely delicious!
Admittedly, I was a bit skeptical about waiting in line because I always feel nervous when it comes to how much longer I can go without food. Thankfully I was distracted with my friends in line and it may have taken about 30 mins or so.
i do love how it's a pretty efficient system. They take your order at the window and you take your number to a table. They then find your number to deliver your order. We probably waited another 10ish minutes before food started coming in.
We started with the tempura green beans and shrimp cocktail. So good!! I can tell they're trying to get the green beans out too fast though because I noticed the stems were still on the beans. They're definitely not edible so I ended up trying to eat everything but that part.
Tacos were amazing! I tried their baja shrimp, mushroom, and El Teofilo which is shrimp and cheese. They all come with green and red hot sauce which are perfect. I also tried their pepino agua fresca and it went perfectly with everything.
Fun atmosphere outdoors with even more fun decorations inside. The music isn't too loud neither so it made for a perfect night with friends! Can't wait to come back.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Ricardo M.Las Cruces, NM038Jul 5, 2024
What a culinary jewel!
I seldom write a review. Many years ago, I owned two restaurants so I am very critical. I came from Las Cruces two days in a row. I discovered Taconeta, what a jewel. I was so impressed by the ambiance, service, the food quality and presentation that I went back my second day. The Baja fish taco is as good as when I lived in Cabo. I also had a Mushroom Taco and Shrimp Aguachile. On my second visit, I repeated the same and had a Cactus Pear Agua Fresca. I will be my place to eat on my visits to El Paso.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - May 12, 2024
First time here, their tacos selection is different from what I have ever had but they were yummy. The Baja shrimp was my favorite. I also ordered an esquite (corn on a cup with butter, cheese, mayo and chile) it didn't have much flavor and was extra buttery. I also tried the cucumber michelada, very unique and refreshing. It was a busy afternoon but our food came out fast. The staff was friendly.

The carnitas taco was stuffed and amazing! The elote was good, not the best ever. Visited on a Saturday, and they were BUSY, but there is plenty of seating and the food came out fast. It's a noisy place, but that's part of the ambiance.
Note: You walk up to an outside window to order, then go find a table. They have indoor and outdoor seating.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 833421998Apr 3, 2024Updated review
El Paso is often viewed as the proclaimed capital for tacos. Then Taconeta reign supreme as one of the greatest ambassadors of tacos ! The service is absolutely exceptional with a dedicated team that is really enthusiastic about what they do. They always go out of their way to serve. Today, I ventured into the fresh and delicious Tostada Chepe! This is also known as the tostada campechana meaning a mix of cod fish and shrimp ceviche tossed in a limey savory sauce made with toasted chilies and served with guac, pico, pickled red onion, cucumbers and black sesame seeds. It's the perfect bite for Easter as it is pure deliciousness. The restaurant is often packed which confirms that the Juarez and El Paso community know where to find great tacos treasures!

Aug 19, 2023Previous reviewBack to the Mecca of Tacos ! We ordered the Grilled Sweet Potatoes and Milpa Veggie Bowl with some fried Cod. And of course the great Baja Fish Tacos. Then the Tres Leches two layers cake a small taste of paradise. Reminding you that Taconeta is special! The food is absolutely divine. The service is always super cool and friendly!! The ambiance this Saturday was sporty and relaxed, as we have two teams of tennis players enjoying their after-game....
Jul 16, 2023Previous reviewBack to my the mecca of Tacos and by far the best value in Sun City. On this historical day where Death Valley had the highest temperature recorded on earth at 130 degree; we in El Paso were at 108 degrees! So, there is nothing more refreshing than a fresh Melon Sandor from Taconeta. We tried the Advocado Tostada with some pumpkin seeds and in-house chilly oil, just a pure delight!! Their Baja fish and Baja shrimp tacos remains an ever classic! Love the young and dynamic energy of Taconeta. The service was great, AM was super helpful!! Support our local innovative restaurant; this place deserves your visit for sure!
Jun 24, 2023Previous reviewReally cool vibes at Taconeta. This taquerias mixed some inspiration from an owner from Austin, TX and Puerto Vallarta the place offers a real fusion of original flavors. Their top tacos are 1. SUADERO Tacos made with a confit of briskets; 2) Baja Fish and Baja Shrimps tacos that are made with their own batter, and 3) the Mushrooms tacos that are tempura-fried then topped with salsa and dehydrated kale. Everything is absolutely deliciously original and inviting. 4) The Carnitas Tacos are also a classic porc taco melted in their own fatty richness. Tortillas are freshly made in house every day and are then colored with spinach. Service is really great as they know they are serving love. I really enjoyed the dishes served at Taconeta. It is also a paradise for Vegetarians and Vegans who will have a great spot to enjoy tasty veggie tacos. You also have to try their Aguachille, a shrimp-based ceviche-like dish whose chili liquid is infused with some citrus. In my mind these folks are serving love tacos! The ambiance is cool and relax with the simplicity of delicious tacos that all deserve their tasting. This is definitely a great value and a go-to place for original flavors with the inviting staff and great services. It makes our Sun City a real destination for creative contemporary Mexican Tacos. Viva El Paso, Viva Taconeta!
