This was my favorite drink stop on our trip! The staff was very friendly and welcoming.

Our waitress was extremely friendly and had great recommendations- especially for the kids. I wish I had caught her name because she was great.

A woman who was doing tarot readings stopped by and offered her services and when we weren't interested at the time she was not pushy at all.

The decor was unique and made me feel like we were in another time/place. It was loud like many of the places nearby and the bathrooms were clean.

We just snacked and had drinks here and they were all delicious! We wish that we had been morning hungry because our snacks were so good. I think these were the best drinks of our entire trip.

Huge fresh oysters at a great happy hour price! Who can complain? I don't know why, but I found the oysters in new Orleans a bit lacking in flavor, and they're huge. I dunno, but they need to be zhuzhed up. The mignonette helped. Perhaps I'm just not a fan of the gulf oysters.

The bartender was really nice, but I asked him about the ginger beer for my dark and stormy, and he failed to tell me it was flat and the end of the bottle. It was pretty gross. I probably should have complained. My daughter's drink was very good and pretty. I think it was the alchemist elixir. We didn't eat here, other than the oysters, so this review is just for the bar.

Service was excellent. I will start there. It is a restaurant with a vampire theme, and a minute off Bourbon Street, and a bit of a cheesy goth vibe. It was a historic building, lots of great history offered in the fun reading materials that were included in the menu. They have great teas and other apothecary items.

We had several starters instead of entrees and we were very happy. The crab and lobster stuffed portobello mushroom was yummy, but not something I would order again. It was not one-of-a-kind, which is what we are seeking in NOLA. The charcuterie board was the bomb. It had a smoked fig bacon jam and a spicy mustard (no a generic one) that went really well with the cheeses and it was served with strawberries and grapes, and a few choices of meats. It was really good, better than expected. Then we tried the pickled beet eggs. Totally weird item, but I wanted to try it and it was pretty good. We had a couple of the oyster shooters, and those were a shot of vodka, some bloody Mary mix. I'm not sure what else, and it had an oyster in the bottom so it was a drink and oyster all in one. That was really excellent. We had the Vexing Violet and it was really good. I also had 2 of the drinks our server recommended, the Corpse Revival, and they were excellent...citrusy and sweet and refreshing. Then we had the truffle popcorn and it was good.

They even have custom fangs made here. Weird, but uniquely NOLA.

We had the best service and super friendly staff. It is worth the NOLA Bourbon Street vibe to go and visit the Vampire Apothecary.

PLEASE do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs. I literally cannot say enough. I came here with some friends to get a few drinks and a little bite to eat. We try to avoid Bourbon but figured it looked kind of interesting and the cocktails sounded good. I ordered an oyster shooter and we ordered a two dozen oysters for the four of us, as well as a few other drinks. My god. What did I do. I ate one oyster and thought it just wasn't great but wasn't the worst, the absinthe mignonette was interesting and I added a little hot sauce and lemon. Second oyster was actually better and I enjoyed it. That's when I decided to go for the third oyster. Absolutely not. I am not kidding when I say I have never had anything so foul in my life. It literally popped in my mouth after one bite and tasted ROTTEN. I almost threw up right then and there but thankfully was able to spit into my napkin and keep the rest of the oysters down. I rinsed my mouth and spit the water back in my cup. I dumped straight Tabasco into my mouth to mask the foul flavor.

We told the waitress we didn't want the second dozen and then I got my oyster shooter (delivered like 30 minutes after ordering, it took longer than it did for us to get everything else??). No way was I going to mess with that. My friends told me I should honestly just go in the bathroom and throw it up there because I had two before hand but I just wanted to leave as soon as possible. It was obvious that we were grossed out and not going to touch the rest of the oysters or my shooter and the waitress didn't say anything, I suspect they were well aware they were serving poor quality oysters and literally didn't care. Seems like this might be a regular occurrence.

I got an Uber back to the place I'm staying immediately and braced for the worst, well within 30 minutes I was projectile vomiting. I am glad I didn't have any alcohol today and just had a small basic breakfast because it could have been a lot worse, but this has been the worst part of this trip for sure. Now I am staying in for my last night in New Orleans and I am praying my flight tomorrow is bearable.

On top of that? They added a 20% automatic gratuity HAHAHA

TLDR: don't step foot in this rotten oyster hellhole unless you want to spend part of your vacation praying to the porcelain god

Worst oysters I've ever had the displeasure of putting in my mouth

While walking down Bourbon St, my friend and I stumbled across this gem which is located on the cross street St. Peter's .

This is a very unique bar/restaurant. I loved the ambiance of floral and French decor . We stopped by for a late night drink and eat. The Apothecary is open until 2:00 a.m. Service was great.

We ordered the charcuterie board and vexing violet which consisted of champagne and a unique lavender flavoring . My friend and I enjoyed both.

Also what is really unique is there is a speakeasy which requires a password attached.

We went here Friday night. My friend had the blood bag drink and I got the absinthe Toulouse green drink. The bartender did all the steps to make the absinthe drink. This was the first time I tried absinthe. The absinthe drink was very strong and tasted like black licorice but I was able to slowly drink all of it.
The ambiance here is beautiful! It is decorated with dried flowers hanging from the ceiling and even the napkins are in the shape of roses. There is a small area where you can buy vampire items. I bought a bag of ground vampire coffee to take home. The employees here were awesome.

We stopped here because of their sidewalk sign for Happy Oysters 4-7 7 days a week, $6/dozen with a beverage order. What a deal, since everyone else in town priced them at $28/dozen! They were amongst the best Oysters I've ever had, big and plump, and so sweet and briny!
Service was great, and ambience was nice. We sat at the bar. You have to go if you love oysters!

When in New Orleans, do yourself a favor and head to the Apothecary! We were walking through the French Quarter and waiting to join our haunted tour for the evening when we came across The Apothecary. It was warm and welcoming as we stopped into the bar for a drink. We sat at the bar and enjoyed a Vampire Sazerac, and I had an oyster shooter while my friend enjoyed a champagne cocktail. The menu looked great. Apparently, not only is is a restaurant and bar, but they also do psychic readings and fang appointments. The decor is interesting and charming. We decided that after our tour, we needed to return for dinner.
When we came back for dinner we had a bottle of rose', paninis, a cheese and charcuterie plate served in a bird cage, and a dessert of chocolate bats. Yes, dark chocolate bats. We also ended the evening with some dessert cocktails.
Anyway, this place is casual, but service is welcoming and it is comfortable. It is an interesting and unique place.

The service was really lacking here, one bartender for the whole bar and she was busy doing a presentation with the drinks and didn't bother acknowledging or helping us for literally 9 minutes after we were seated. The beer was good but the muffuletta panini was overly salty and the hummus was like mediocre grocery store quality. I think the theme is cute and the place decorated well, but it was a long wait and a little pricey.

This was a cool find while wandering the streets of the French Quarter. Cocktails were amazing. Loved my Elixir drink. Our paninis were nice and crispy and came with a side of bread and hummus. Eerie ambiance but it is vampire-themed after all. Really cool witchy decor and art. We sat at the bar and service could have been a little better.
