About the Business
The Bearded Pig is a Southern style BBQ joint in the San Marco neighborhood of Jacksonville. The space harkens back to the original meat markets of Texas that sold BBQ at the counter and a very limited menu. Although our menu is a bit broader, but our goal is simple , to serve the best BBQ-period.

The Bearded Pig was a total hit! The atmosphere was laid-back and friendly, with a fun, casual vibe. My Cobb salad with brisket was a flavor explosion - the brisket was tender and juicy, and the whole salad was fresh and satisfying. And those poppers? Oh my gosh, they were addictive! The service was friendly and efficient, making the whole experience even better. Can't wait to go back!

Ordered food fot takeout, got the platter can easily feed 2-3 people. We will have leftovers for awhile. Hot and ready right on time. We have a big family so our orders are usually large and get messed up a lot but not here everyone was full and happy.

Came here for lunch and ordered the Kings Sandwich plus a Mac n cheese side($15), it had brisket, pork, sausage, jalapeño popper, and cheese sauce. The jalapeño popper was wrapped in bacon and had cream cheese inside. I really enjoyed the sausage and poppers the most in the sandwich. The brisket was seasoned well, but it did feel a bit dry. But overall an excellent sandwich at a great price with a variety of meats to try. Staff was friendly and food came out in a reasonable time. Overall a good BBQ place to try!

BBQ was awesome. We had brisket, pulled pork, ribs, loaded potato and burnt ends. Good stuff.
The greens and cole slaw were underwhelming. Also did not like the nickel and diming for extra sour cream.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jun 23, 2024
Solid, solid bbq, definitely gets the job done when it comes to getting your bbq fix. A lot of people here recommend the brisket, in my mind, you go to Texas to get brisket, but it was pretty good.
The collard greens are pretty good, has a lemony zest kick to it, but solid overall. I didn't get the Mac n cheese, although it looks amazing, needed up getting the fries which were nice and crispy. Recommend giving this place a shot!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Peter L.Jacksonville, FL55183Jun 19, 2024
The meats are good, but the sides are horrible. You're in the south, please make normal sides!
The fries are ok, but why would you have 15-bean BBQ beans, undercooked noodles in the mac & cheese, put green beans in the potato salad and put carrots in the greens. I want to like this place, I really do, but you have got to improve the sides. Every time I hear Bearded Pig get mentioned by anyone, the terrible sides are mentioned. Sides are just as important as the meat. Your restaurant could be so much better with good sides. Please do better, you're in the south!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 8, 2024
This is, like many barbecue places, you order at the counter and then sit down with a number and your food is brought to you. I ordered the brisket sandwich and the regular french fries. The fries could've used a little more salt, and my table didn't have salt shaker, so I dipped them in the many different sauces that were on the table. I mainly had the XXX sauce, which was spicy, the mustard sauce and the sweet barbecue sauce. All were very good. The brisket though, WOW! It was so very tender and melt in your mouth delicious. If I'm ever back in that area, I will likely return to try the other meats they have.

Love this spot! The casual vibe paired with great barbecue is perfect for a lunch with friends, chill date night, or party with friends. I love their outside space!
I loved the Pig Punch ($8) for a drink, super sweet and coconut-y. My boyfriend and I shared the San Marco Platter ($34) and I was amazed with the amount of food we got for the price! It comes with 1/4 rack of ribs, 1/4 chicken (you get to choose light or dark meat), 1/4 lb of two more meats of your choice - we chose brisket, (which they let you choose how fatty or lean you wanted it) and pulled pork. It also comes with 2 sides, so we did the regular fries and mac and cheese. We also got the sandwich roll (free with the platter if requested) on the side. The platter was SO GOOD. Every single meat was perfect, but I especially loved the ribs and the brisket. The pulled pork on the sandwich roll with some BBQ sauce was soooo good too. And the mac and cheese.....amazing!!! They have five different types of BBQ sauces as well, so you can try them all to find your favorite!
The service was also great, from those at the front taking orders to those swapping out sauce bottles for fuller ones. I would absolutely come back to The Bearded Pig!!!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jun 5, 2024
I recently had dinner at The Bearded Pig and was thoroughly impressed. I tried the brisket, smoked turkey, and collard greens, and each dish was exceptional.
The brisket was perfectly cooked--tender, juicy, and bursting with smoky flavor. The smoked turkey was equally delicious, with a delicate smokiness that complemented its natural flavor without overpowering it. The collard greens were a delightful surprise, seasoned to perfection and providing a wonderful, slightly tangy balance to the rich meats.
The atmosphere was casual and inviting, with friendly staff who were attentive and helpful. If you're a fan of barbecue, The Bearded Pig is a must-visit. I'll definitely be back to try more of their menu!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - May 31, 202410 check-ins
A Meat Lover's Paradise with a Few Hitches:
Nestled in the heart of San Marco, The Bearded Pig is a carnivore's haven that promises a culinary experience like no other. From melt-in-your-mouth brisket to mouthwatering smoked turkey, this establishment tantalizes taste buds with its exceptional menu offerings.
The crown jewel of The Bearded Pig undoubtedly lies in its brisket. Succulent, juicy, and bursting with flavor, the brisket here is a true masterpiece. Each bite is a symphony of smoky goodness, perfectly seasoned and expertly cooked to tender perfection. In my humble opinion, it stands as the best brisket in all of Jacksonville, a title it rightfully deserves.
But the delights don't stop there. The smoked turkey at The Bearded Pig is nothing short of phenomenal. Tender slices of moist turkey infused with rich smokiness create a medley of flavors that dance on the palate. It's a dish that will leave you craving more with every bite.
Service at The Bearded Pig is consistently top-notch. The staff is warm, welcoming, and always ready to cater to your needs. The bartenders, in particular, stand out for their friendliness and expertise in mixing up the perfect drink to complement your meal.
However, no establishment is without its flaws. While The Bearded Pig shines in many aspects, I have encountered issues with their catering service in the past. Despite this, my overall experience at the restaurant has always been exceptional. The ambiance, the food, and the service all come together to create an unforgettable dining experience that keeps me coming back for more.
In conclusion, The Bearded Pig is a true gem in Jacksonville, offering a carnivorous feast that is sure to delight any meat lover. With standout dishes like their mouthwatering brisket and phenomenal smoked turkey, paired with excellent service and a welcoming atmosphere, this establishment is a must-visit for anyone looking to indulge in quality barbecue.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
