Q:
I visited here for the first time on vacation last week and tried a sparkling red wine that was absolutely divine. Thought I took a picture of the label, but somehow it's now gone... Can anyone enlighten me?

The Delachaise is a dynamo on the Garden District / Uptown dining and drinking scene. The pub grub is gourmet quality with the pricing and portions of a greasy spoon. The wine, beer, and spirits selections are all best in class with bottles from all corners of the globe. The seating inside and out--pick from tables, booths, high-tops, or stools--accommodates parties of various sizes and conversational aspirations. The bartenders are incredibly friendly and willing to help with menu questions. I had the lamb sliders, a daily special. The plate came with enough food for two meals--essentially two personal hoagies cut into quarters. My gf got the fries with two delectable sauces. I'm eager to return and try some of the other dishes.

One star for the string lights.
I don't understand the good reviews. Our food was inedible- a fatty sandwich, suspicious smelling mussels, and a limited and unimpressive wine list that the staff will not explain. The bartenders are rude, entitled and will be pissed you're there (guy with the longish curly hair is especially awful).
My two friends went back last night and had the exact same experience . There are many great places to eat in this city- this is not one of them.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - J S.BOWLING GREEN, NY262847Feb 29, 2024
So much potential
Lost
First off- the place is adorable
Love the outdoor seating
But-
It needs a deep clean
Like a very deep clean
Also
Less pretentious staff! Prices for wine are HIGH and there's no need for it to be that way

For a neighborhood wine bar, I hadn't anticipated for the food to be as good as it was. Don't sleep on their grilled cheese and tomato soup... so good from trying a bite of a friend's and I'm itching to get one myself asap?? The fries are quite salty but a satisfying crunch and the mussels are decent. It's worth checking out the food and the patio that has ample seating and misters to help keep one feeling cool. The bathroom was clean and overall I was impressed. I will say that I wish the staff had kept more of the whirling fans charged as many were dead and the flies were absolute menaces outside. In addition, mosquitos were merciless out there to my ankles - but for what it's worth it was a nice time with friends for a TGIF golden hour.

Very cute place. Has a romantic vibe at night. I love the cocktail menu. The steak can use a little bit more seasoning but the proportion was large. Service was 5 star!! The staff was extra kind and accommodating.

Very cute place and the bartender was nice. Some of the food was really good and some was ok. We ordered the meatballs, pork sliders, devil eggs, fried frog legs, gumbo, and steak fries. The meatballs were good but cold, sliders were my least favorite it was cold, the steak needed a little more seasoning but cooked perfect, the devil eggs were amazing, the frog legs were also really good, and the gumbo was ok.

I stopped in for small plates and cocktails after work as it had been years since I'd been to The Delachaise.
I love this place for its charm. There's a young, fresh vibe and the offerings are perfect for hanging and catching up with friends.
My small party ordered the sliders, the steak board, and the mussels.
The sliders were delicious. On my next visit I will definitely order these as my meal. There will be no sharing. :)
I found the mussels to be extra spicy. I had to bow out after just one, and I love mussels.
The steak was good and the presentation was lovely.
There were so many menu options that I'm looking forward to making another visit and trying a few more things.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 9, 2023Updated review
Since my move back to NOLA, I've been revisiting many of my favorite places and it's been like a renewed love affair, honestly. Last night we landed at the Delachaise. Since my last review, I had been back a bunch of times and it's never been as packed as it was over 10 years ago.
They've extended their outdoor seating area and it's quite magical out there. Last night was one of those late winter beautiful nights, where it's 73 and no humidity. That fairy-lit paradise was calling to us.
Delachaise has an impressive wine list, of course it still does, and although they were out of the Gamay, I was just fine with a Chianti Classico (at a reasonable 11 bucks).
The menu never was vegan friendly and it still isn't, what with even the fries made in duck fat, but that's OK I'll eat elsewhere.Helpful 13Thanks 0Love this 13Oh no 0Jan 30, 2012Previous reviewThis may come as a shock to anyone who knows me, but... I'm somewhat of a wino. That's right. I said "wino." Not "Oenophile." Listen, I know barely anything about wine except for the usual feeling of "I want some now." I don't sip. I've been known to gulp. The idea of using a spittoon after "tasting" is a hilarious concept to me. If it's red and it's dry, it's usually good enough (that's actually no longer true, sadly).
I do know that I love me some dry Italian reds and that Shiraz is too sweet for me. Luckily for me, Delachaise has a fair amount of Italian reds by the bottle and a perfectly drinkable Chianti by the glass (not everyone loves an Italian red, it's true).
So, a few things. I think I'd prefer this place on a quieter night, as I was here on an extremely busy Friday and it's not the kind of place that I, personally, want to be in when crowded. I mean, wine drinking is a pretty civilized activity, best done while speaking in dulcet tones, perched on the edge of dark velvet lounges--not shrieking across a table at my companions. Delachaise is quite perfect to this end, with its low lighting and loungy seating in the front and back (I love the front window area!). The bar is long, very long, lending itself well to the long, narrow structure. I just can't get behind the whole packed, two person-deep at the bar thing. And you have to order your food at the bar (they do bring it out to you). Again, I totally would be down to do this anytime when it's easy to do so.That said, the food we ordered was astonishingly delicious, especially the eggplant cannolis!! The cheese platter is also quite incredible (you can pick or leave it up to them. We did the latter which was the best idea for sure). I suppose I should be glad that you order at the bar, for this made me order far less wine that I would have normally. Yep. Had a server been back to check on us, I guarantee we all would have had at least 2 more glasses each.
I fully expect to increase my star rating when I return on a less busy night. - 367661263Mar 27, 2023
I arrived in New Orleans this afternoon and walked here for a drink and what ended up being dinner tonight. It's right by the streetcar line which was great for getting home when I was done.
The bartenders were friendly and I decided to stick with Prosecco and their "house" glass was very good. I was eyeing the grilled cheese and tomato soup but thought it might be too hot so ordered the sliders instead. The sliders were good, the fries were okay. Had they been crisper and seasoned a bit more I may have had some more but after eating the sliders, I just picked a few off my plate. My total was about $40 which felt reasonable.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Jul 2, 2023
My husband and I went here after dinner on a date night hand it was a little gem!
We didn't eat any food because we just left dinner but they have a nice little menu going and tons of great wine pairings. I was actually pleasantly surprised at the options.
We ordered from the bar and sat outside to spend some alone time. They have like 6 tables and outdoor lighting which was nice and romantic. Inside was packed with lots of people having a great time.
Bartenders were nice and helpful, made great drinks and were quick. The assortment of alcohol at this establishment is so impressive. Few places have the amount of options they do. We were both blown away at the amount of liquors available.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
