    • Q:

Is there an area to check in luggage?

      A:

When we went on January 1st of this year, they did allow us to check luggage, but it was more just put in the front room (ticketing area on the far end) and available to grab when we left.

    • Q:

Is reentry allowed? I'm not able to locate this information on their website. I'm wondering if we can go out to eat lunch if we don't want to eat at their restaurant and then come back.

      A:

I believe the answer is yes, but you should call or ask the ticketing desk to confirm.

EVERYONE said this museum was a must when in NOLA, and they were right!

I Absolutely loved this museum, so much history to live and learn from for all ages who visit. My wife pre purchased 10:15 a.m. tickets for Saturday (05/25/2024). We spent 5+ hours here 'trying' to take it all in. All the exhibits engaged you and were beautifully presented.

Honestly, you can spend an entire day and even days submersing yourself in harrowing reality of WWII. We are so blessed and lucky, I'm forever grateful to the men and women who have given so much to protect our freedom.

I would definitely make this museum a must see when in New Orleans. Just remember "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." - George Santayana.

This museum is among the best there is. This was my second time coming to the museum. I hadn't been since Fall 2019, and I left even more amazed by it than before. There is so much to see, learn and do here. I cannot recommend this highly enough for people of all ages. You could spend a whole day here and that would not be enough time.

I don't want to give too much away as this is a museum I think someone should see for themselves. With that being said, the exhibits were carefully and thoughtfully put together, and I liked the mix of artifacts, plaques, and images. It is well organized and easy to follow.

Their most recent exhibit is the liberation center, which details the human loss of the war as well as the victories and the future ahead. I was very moved by the footage and testimonies of the Holocaust survivors and appreciated the thought put into sharing these.

Some logistical details: they have a parking garage, and passes you can pin to your shirt so you can walk freely on campus. There are plenty of elevators, bathrooms, water fountains and air conditioning to go around. It is a comfortable and accessible space. They have a gift shops throughout as well as a couple of places to eat and drink.

One of the largest museums in the world will be a fulfilling experience for anyone who's into learning, WWII, history, and conflict/battle theme. There are soooo many exhibits of all kinds of mediums, so you can easily spend days exploring here. We spent the whole day, which felt like forever, but also flew by, as we got engrossed in all the heart-wrenching artifacts and stories.

Fair warning: the content and atmosphere are very heavy, so you will leave depressed and disillusioned about humanity. Prepare for a somber & sobering experience. I got so mentally depleted that I could not function for the rest of the day.

Yes for all the reasons. Learning why WWII started and what the different countries roles were is so important to understanding our world now. Young and old can take something away from a visit. Number one thing to do in New Orleans. Seriously, do not miss it. Take at least four hours, more if you have the time. Read and listen to the exhibits. If you already know, this museum is a beautiful reminder and if you don't know it is a great place to learn. I am planning my trip right know to take my daughter.

Set aside 3 hours! There's a nice little restaurant on site so plan around your lunch if you want. Best 3 hours of the trip. We learn about WWII but this museum takes you behind the scenes. The 4D experience of "Beyond all Boundaries" is really cool. There are a few scenes that make startle certain little ones but overall it's a great experience! Really enjoyed it. The movie experience is an "add-on" and cost a little more than general admission. However, you can purchase a ticket for JUST the movie but you have to do it on site. The website won't allow it.

Living in D.C., it's jarring to pay for museum entrance, but although steep, the $35 for adults is worth it at what's probably the best museum about the American experience in World War II. Located in the Warehouse District, I went with my mother-in-law right when it opened at 9 a.m. on a Thursday in April. Here's our experience.

      1) Exhibits: The museum is huge, but doesn't seem like it at first. After watching a short intro video inside a train, you exit into the initial exhibits, which are small and crowded. On top of that, many guests aren't used to the masses so aren't aware of where to stand to read an exhibit piece.

After a few exhibits, the space gets bigger and dives deeper into the European and Asian Theaters of the war. It also talks about being a person of color and a woman in the war and racism in the U.S. There's also a big hanger with tanks and aircrafts.

The storytelling is so good with a mix of films, artifacts, personal stories, and more. There's even an exhibit recreating the space Anne Frank hid inside.

I'd spend 3-4 hours if you really want to soak it all in. It's an excellent museum and I learned many things.

Another visit recommended by tourist we met; this was also one of the stops for Hop on Hop off Bus tour.

Admission was reasonable for what is contained within the building. I believe the staff member on site told us there were 4 or 5 different areas to walk through and the order he recommended going in. Suffice to say we did not have enough time to view all the exhibits before closing. We were able to completely walk through 2 areas stopping at each item reading and admiring. My favorite was at very beginning the unique train you board and gives you some short intro, it was just so different it stuck in my head.

Even if you aren't from America anyone can enjoy the history here with the extensive intricacies this museum holds. To completely absorb the entire museum I would dedicate at least 4-5 hours, a must see.

The World war 2 Museum in NOLA is a really well done and large museum that I recommend to anyone wanting to kill a half day. It's a very well done museum that has a lot of interactive parts of the museum and the beyond boundaries movie they show is well worth the watch. If you're visiting and you have time you should go check it out.

This is one of the finest museums I have enjoyed. Every American should be required to walk the hallowed halls of this iconic museum to better understand the immense sacraments sacrifices that took place to defeat tyrant tyranny. The staff brings to life one of the most important historical and tragic events the world has ever seen. Their personal touch helping to seeing the war as it was experienced first hand by our soldiers, sailors, Marines, Coast Guardsmen hit me at a deeply personal level. Thank you to all those who made this museam possible. Though not named in this iconic picture, I saw my old friend Paul "Pops" Ison as he was captured crossing Death Valley on Okinawa. R.I.P. warrior and Semper Fidelis until Valhalla!
