Thank you, Yelp, for guiding me to Zen Ramen & Sushi! I was craving a quick sushi bite at a random hour (yay for work travel) and this spot happened to be near my hotel. I got there around 5pm and it was packed! Despite this, I got seated at the bar and had speedy service all dinner long.
I was blown away at their happy hour menu: SO MANY $5 rolls from 5-8pm. Toto, we're not in Kansas anymore! I got 3 (very tasty) rolls and contemplated getting more simply due to the price. I'm giving this 2 stars instead of 1 because the deal was SO cheap. If you just want sushi, and don't care as much for quality, go here. I got the 3 roll lunch special for $11. It came with a soup or salad - I got salad and the lettuce tasted bad, dressing wasn't very flavorful either.
When our sushi rolls came out, they mixed up 4/6 of our orders. They went to fix it and the correct rolls still did not come out. I didn't bother asking to fix it again so just ate it.
I got spicy tuna, spicy salmon, and tuna avocado (even though I asked for salmon avocado). The tuna had weird white lines so I didn't eat it. Spicy rolls were good. It was $2 for spicy mayo which I always hate when they charge you for sauce :(
We checked in on yelp to get free vanilla or green tea ice cream but then they didn't even have vanilla, only green tea.
Ambience was loud inside. I went with a party of 6 (if you call, they will make you a reservation) and could barely hear what people across the table were saying.
Even for the deal, I would not come back here. We all had stomach problems after we left.

We loved the selections of food options here, a long list of sushi's to choose from and then ramens and rice bowls. It is not too common to see seafood ramen but they have it here!! Service was fast.
A small note though it gets packed very quickly, so you may have to sit by the kitchen area on a high chair, but if that's not an issue, it is fun to sit by also.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Business owner information

My favorite places in the city for ramen and sushi and great happy hour specials. Service and food are good. Most times I've been here either no wait or prime time can be up to 30 minute wait for dinner. Happy hour menu is plentiful and a great value - but check during each season as days and hours do change. You do get discount paying cash vs credit and both prices are listed on the menu...
Happy hour drinks- definitely cannot beat the options of mix drinks, beer and wine. Hot green tea is good for cold days.
Orion - for the Karate Kid movie lovers
Lychee martini and mojitos are great - love them both
Food is good here - so really cannot go wrong with whatever you order...great to sample with HH prices and share.
Gyoza and sushi rolls are very good.
Regular appetizers: Salmon pizza, trio tartare, pork belly buns (used to come 2 in an order, now it's by piece and they added chicken as an option) are highly recommended. Those are my staples.
Ramen here is good for a cold day - you get to choose the noodle type for your ramen.

May 12, 2019Previous reviewOne of my favorite places for ramen in the city. The appetizers are very good as well if you opt for a lighter option. When coming here for happy hour or dinner, check out the happy hour menu for special priced drinks and appetizers! Can't go wrong with anything you order. Service is quick and food is great!
If not too hungry, sharing appetizers is the way to go: fried gyoza, edaname, trio tartare, pork buns and sushi rolls. Hot green tea to wash it down.

This place gets busy and crowded so best to make a reservation esp since it's in the heart of midtown close to Madison Square Garden, Macy's and the movie theaters.

Nice place that was near our hotel and very convenient. The ramen got high ratings from my daughter. I had sushi and shrimp appetizer. Very tasty. Got to try a Japanese stout beer that was excellent as well.

Nice happy hour menu for an affordable price!! The portions are small, but expected since it's a cheap way to enjoy some pretty decent sushi. Service was a bit slow, but drinks were strong and the food was decent quality. It was crowded, but had good vibes!

203495Jun 28, 20241 check-inThis place I have been faithfully coming to for the past 4 years. I was working one day and passed by. I looked up the place and saw the prices were right. I went on a date here and fell in love with the place and not the date the place may be small but truly accommodating, bathrooms are clean and happy hour menu is a killer. My go to items are the Spicy Shoyu Ramen, Pork Gyoza and the Sapporo beer.
