So I'm probably way too late on this but thought I would ask anyway. I want to bring a side or dessert home with me for Thanksgiving at my parents and would like to bring something from a NOLA establishment.
What are the best sides/desserts in NOLA that I can order and bring home with me?11/21/2010 -

Here's a couple recommendations I found from other sources to start it off:
Oyster dressing from Labella's
Doberge cake from Dorignac's11/21/2010 -

The shrimp dip at Langenstein's is really good & really rich so you get a good bang for your buck.

I'm just bring beer, but my fams a bunch of beer swillers. I've got Heiner brau (from Covington), LA 31 bière pale, Covington bayou bock and Covington Pontchartrain Pilsner. If you are flying bring beer may no be your best bet. If you are driving, it's perfect because ya don't have to keep it cold.

Great suggestions. Thanks!
I didn't even think about beer because they tend to go with the boring/cheap stuff and that would be a risky move, but I can definitely find another occasion to use the beer tips.
I am driving but it's only about 2.5 hours so transport should not be much of an issue.11/22/2010
