Which Po-boy place is better for a fried shrimp poboy, Magazine St Sandwich Shop or Domilise's??

One would be hard pressed to get a bad po-boy in this town; the usual suspects (Johnny's in the Quarter, Mahoney's on Magazine, Joey K's also on Magazine -- and myriad other mom and pop corner groceries on every other block and such).

Just don't wander into any place where they're standing outside with shrink wrapped display platters handing out menus.

Domilise's is great but I'll never go back. Any restaurant where the restrooms are a neglected afterthought gives pause to wonder.

I know there are multiple great places. I'd add parkway to the mix. My bf is coming in town and magazine is his favorite, but domilise is closer to my house. I think I'm gonna stick with magazine for now, but I'll try other places too. I'm a Nola native but just moved back after 5 years away. Trying to get my feet wet again :)

    Consider Parasol's on the shortlist?

Don't forget Guy's, at Magazine and Valmont.

Actually Guy's is closer to where I live. After reading their reviews I think I found a winner. Thanks!

You don't think of Muriel's for po'boys but their shrimp po'boy is awesome...and...you can have the goat cheese crepes with crawfish sauce to start.

Ended up going to guy's and it was awesome.

Although it's not downtown. Chateau Orleans Poboys is probably the best poboys in the new Orleans area. Check them out!

Mahony's Peacemaker is well worth the extra dollar I have to pay but it's fries oysters, not shrimp.

Adam Street Grocery is good too!

You chose well Melissa. Guy's would have been my recommendation for you as well, for a shrimp po-boy. Plus you can choose between fried or grilled shrimp, which isn't an option in a whole lot of places. Nicely done!

if he's flying in you can stop at New Orleans Seafood and Hamburger on Vet's.  I bring out of towners there and they are quite pleased.  They get a lot of local traffic as well.
