So my iPhone got a yelp update and it said that I can now make reservations. I don't think I would ever use that feature (i'd rather want to see an events section) but I can't see how to use it if I did want to. Can you?

I have drained inLos Angeles that use it ALL OF THE TIME... Not sure about here, but you figure if it's  on there, the business is actively involved in Yelp & would be happiest to help you first. Just my thought.

The ability to make reservations via the app sounds like an awesome vacation tool. Imagine: walking around in NYC, seeing cool stuff and enjoying the day. Do you trek back to your hotel, pay $15 for crappy wifi, and make a reservation somewhere just to leave again or do you just search what's nearby and snag a table via the phone in your hand? I'd opt for "phone in hand."

    But I'm also lazy.

    Also! Also! Also!

I think this is connected to OpenTable, which is a service that restaurants in NOLA have not figured out. But I loved using it in Philly because it was one website connected to everywhere I wanted to eat instead of tracking down the phone number/website of each individual restaurant. Eventually, I'm sure it will catch on down here. (We've already talked about OT, though.)

Currently, there are about 80 restaurants in the NOLA/Metairie area using OpenTable, and that's a pretty decent increase from last year, so more and more restaurants are catching on. (I track OpenTable usage for my Dining Out For Life event . . . OpenTable is a national sponsor)

  1. I am pretty sure all of the Besh restaurants use Open Table.

Hey Lindsey, glad to see you're awake at 4 am.

I wonder if you still earn dining points if you make reservations through Yelp.
