Masters of the Air
Streaming now on Apple TV+, the nine-episode mini-series Masters of the Air focuses on the real-life experiences of the 100th Bomb Group to tell the story of the Eighth Air Force during World War II. It brings into vivid focus the experiences of the Bloody Hundredth, from the hard stands at Thorpe Abbotts to flak-filled aerial battles and the harsh realities of POW life at Stalag Luft III. 100th BG historical staff provided archival research and technical consultation on a daily basis to help support the producers’ commitment to authenticity.
Courage in the Skies: Join Us to Build a New Museum Experience
With Masters of the Air generating intense interest in the 100th Bomb Group and its place in Eighth Air Force history, you can help the 100th Bomb Group Foundation expand its presence at the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force. As the museum undergoes major renovations, we have launched a separate, multi-million-dollar campaign to deliver an immersive experience for museum-goers. The project, known as Courage in the Skies, will offer visitors new insight into the wartime world of the Bloody Hundredth and new access to the Foundation’s unparalleled collection of 100th BG history. The next 100th Bomb Group reunion takes place May 15-18, 2025 at the National WWII Museum in New Orleans. Luck of the Draw, New Edition

Frank Murphy recounts his experiences from the 100th Bomb Group’s earliest days in Boise, Idaho to the day he was shot out of his B-17 on October 10, 1943 and became a German prisoner of war for more than a year and half. Murphy’s personal memoir also chronicles valuable details of the early training and combat experiences of the first crews who served in the 100th.
