FM/Video Production Intern

Alaska Public Media harnesses the power of multiple media platforms to make a more informed and connected life possible for all Alaskans. Alaska Public Media produces and presents news and content that provides lifelong learning opportunities in public affairs, health and leisure, science and nature, economic and social development, civic engagement, and world events.

The FM/Video Production Intern assists both the FM and Video Production teams with studio and field production, audio and video editing, analytics, and content inventory. This opportunity allows AKPM to teach the next generation of TV/Radio broadcasters by providing professional, hands-on training in these fields while the FM/Video Production Intern provides valuable, first-hand insight into the community that they’re a part of.

Managing Editor of The Alaska Desk

Alaska Public Media’s new collaborative

Alaska Public Media is hiring a managing editor for its new, CPB-funded statewide reporting initiative called The Alaska Desk. This initiative is aimed at enhancing the public radio network’s statewide coverage by addressing news deserts and increasing collaboration across more than a dozen stations. 

The managing editor will lead The Alaska Desk, which will be staffed by four reporters and two other editors with a statewide focus.

Our ideal candidate has a clear vision for enhancing statewide collaboration among public media stations and is passionate about implementing that vision. This editor will manage the desk’s four reporters while thinking big picture about how to best serve public media audiences around Alaska during a time of immense change in the state.

Rural/Training Editor on The Alaska Desk

Alaska Public Media’s new collaborative

Alaska Public Media is hiring a rural/training editor for The Alaska Desk.

The rural/training editor will develop a system for training every public media reporter who starts work in Alaska and will help reporters across Alaska deepen their journalism and produce stories of statewide significance. This editor will also develop a regular training program that will benefit every reporter in the statewide network.

Digital Editor on The Alaska Desk

Alaska Public Media’s new collaborative

Alaska Public Media is hiring a digital editor for The Alaska Desk.

The digital editor will help drive our statewide coverage and edit news stories reported by journalists across the public radio network. This editor will ensure reporters’ journalism has a strong presence on digital platforms with excellent headlines, great visuals and clear writing. Audience engagement is another key piece of this position.
