If you desire to be a better father, leader and even a better friend and man, this book is for you. In this book, Devon shares so much of his experience and what he has learned throughout his journey as a social worker, father and leader in his family and community. He also gives concrete advice and exercises that you can do to reflect on your own experience and where you can improve as a father and leader. Most importantly, this is not some book written by a guru who pretends to have all the answers. Devon is incredibly humble, admits his mistakes and tells you what we can all learn from them. This book reinforces what I have learned recently, which is that leadership does not mean having all the answers and being perfect, leadership means knowing when to be honest, vulnerable and ask for help. Men who can do that, will build closer relationships and more trust with their children, friends and everyone around them. Devon sets a great example with the stories in this book and I greatly admire him for all of it and am glad we shared this book and his lessons with all of us.

If you are a father who is open to reflecting on your own mistakes and mindset and who wants to improve to become the best father and leader you can possibly be, then I highly recommend you check out this book.

The Power of Fatherhood Is Leadership will have you gain a better understanding of the word: FATHERHOOD. I could not put this book down. Fatherhood is Leadership is a book where you will journey along Devon's(the author) past experiences with his own father. Devon vivid depiction of a young child trying to understand his own relationship with his father will have you laugh, cry, will probably make you angry too.

However, the journey through Devon’s experiences with his father prepared him to become the best father that he could be to his three children. In some ways Devon’s father was probably his biggest teacher as to how Devon’s cultivated his relationship with his children. (See book cover of the authors beautiful three children).

Devon delicately shared his individual experiences with each of his children, giving you antidotes about the challenges of raising three children with different personalities, different perspectives. I was completely enamored with this book; an absolute joy to read!

The overwhelming message I received from Devon was the motivation to live life well, in spite of challenges and obstacles. Devon's style of sharing that motivation is very impacting. Devon doesn't stop there; however, but gives some insight on proven methods to get started on making life better. Devon does an outstanding job of mixing motivation with method to provide an outstanding guide for living.

The title, while focusing on Fathers, does not completely describe this book. While the title is appropriate for a portion of Devon's message, the book truly applies to all people, regardless of gender or marital status.

For a book that shows that life can be great while sucking at times, and shows some ways to make life better, this is at the top of my list!
