@nickskapower’s computer unfortunately froze as he was working on this recap, and can’t seem to get it working. It’s yours truly coming to the rescue.
EPISODE #7858: 🎖️VETERANS WEEK🎖️
(Note: The intro for this episode was shortened.)
$1K Toss-Up: PROPER NAME
_ _ _ M I
D _ L _ H I _ S
Melanie IDs the NFL’s MIAMI DOLPHINS. She’s the only lady of this all-Texas panel…
Melanie Coldewey: Army vet whose family members are also in the military (her dad was a Vietnam vet, her husband is a retired Lieutenant Colonel, her brother was in the Army, and her sister is currently in the Navy) and has three kids; she just became a flight attendant which is crazy because she was in the USPS for 20 years right before that from San Antonio
Deric Fulbright: a man who served in the Minot Air Force Base as a nuclear missile technician (when there’s a loose bolt, they figure out how many people it takes to tighten it; their unit received the Presidential Nuclear Surety Award for their performance and inspections in 1999); he can also guess what branch people in the military are in by their mannerisms from Dallas
Lee Mack Turner: a man who served in the Marine Corps between 1973 and 1976 and did evacuations of Vietnam in 1975, is currently involved with the rodeo (he’s in the Barbecue Cook-Off Committee and Cat Scramble Committee), and graduated from Texas A&M five years ago at age 63 from Yoakum (between San Antonio and Houston)

…well, I spoke too soon — he’ll be ENJOYING THE JOURNEY w/ another $40K, giving him $62,948 in cash & Europe. That means we won’t get another skunking on this theme week after all!
MY RATING: 6 (maingame could have been better)
Hopefully your computer will be back up for tomorrow, Nick…
Nick, get your PC for service, just an advice.
Meanwhile, another not too bad episode but can be improved, and we are indeed right that the Veteran’s week this edition won’t be third time’s the charm getting skunked back-to-back (as mentioned, it was rare). We forgive Deric for the earlier mistakes and picking the semi-dreaded WAYD.
Our rating: 6 😮

Round 1: Just look at all the multiples you threw away, Melanie… -__- And I remember this puzzle being used in S31 where a contestant coincidentally won a prize wedge to San Francisco after solving.
The rest of the maingame was quite rocky like the previous episode (especially in Round 2).
Bonus Round: I also had it off RSTLNE and I’m glad we won’t have our second consecutive skunking on this theme week after all even though Derec only got help from the obvious.

Deric’s BR win compensated for another humdrum front game.
