MARY ALICE MILLER

(ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED ON VANITYFAIR.COM, MAY 27, 2014)

Marilyn Monroe loved the limelight, often asking members of her entourage to photograph her on movie sets between takes— as a cure for nervousness and restlessness. Her subsequent ease is captured in these pictures, shot by her makeup artist and her business partner, as well as other friends and lensmen who closely orbited the mega-star. The photographs were showcased in a traveling exhibition curated by Pierre Vudrag, head of Limited Runs, an online gallery that acquired the rights to the images and is selling them as limitededition prints.
