McDonald's new McFlurry is yet another flavor no one asked for. Here's what it tastes like

McDonald's has released yet another McFlurry flavor (when will it end?).

And yet again, it was dissapointing.

When I first told my friends about the new Kit-Kat Banana Split McFlurry, naturally they thought it was two separate flavors. As, naturally, that makes more sense. I don't know why McDonald's R and D are trying so hard to make these "unique" flavors happen. I may sound like a hater, but absolutely no one asked for this.

Trying to combining two distinct treats into one McFlurry yielded results that were less than ideal. Here's why.

What is the new McDonald's McFlurry?

On Wednesday, July 10, McDonald's released the Kit Kat Banana Split McFlurry, available while supplies last.

What is in the Kit Kat Banana Split McFlurry?

The Kit Kat Banana Split McFlurry will be available at participating McDonald's restaurants nationwide while supplies last starting Wednesday, July 10.

The Kit Kat Banana Split McFlurry includes "creamy vanilla soft serve, blended with real banana, strawberry clusters plus chocolatey, crunchy pieces of KIT KAT wafer bars in every bite," according to the McDonald's website.

What does the Kit Kat Banana Split McFlurry taste like?

When trying the new McFlurry, I definitely tasted the banana, though only a hint, but the dessert most overwhelmingly had an aftertaste akin to stale chocolate candy bars left over from Halloween.

I don't know if McDonald's and Kit Kat were trying to get rid of some old candy, but as someone who is a big fan of the chocolate wafer bar, I was disappointed.

I did enjoy the crunchy strawberry clusters, although they didn't taste like strawberry at all. They also felt like an random addition.

I will say, it was an upgrade from the Grandma McFlurry. I appreciated that it wasn't drenched in syrup and it felt slightly lighter and smoother. I could actually taste the ice cream.
