For the moment on Netflix, there’s Cobra Kai and then there’s everything else.

For weeks now, British TV has ruled the global Top 10 TV chart that the streaming giant publishes every week. And in the #1 spot going back for quite a while, we’ve either had new episodes of Bridgerton or Rapman’s celebrated new superhero drama Supacell. This week, however, it’s the Karate Kid sequel drama Cobra Kai that’s dominating the chart, having racked up more than double the number of views as its closest competition in its first four days of streaming availability.

Netflix Top 10 shows (July 15-21)

Look for Cobra Kai to expand its lead over the competition below next week, once Part 1 of the sixth and final season has a full week of viewership under its belt. For now, though, let’s take a look at this week’s complete list of the Top 10 English-language shows on Netflix.

  1. Cobra Kai: Season 6 — 14.8 million views
  2. Vikings: Valhalla: Season 3 — 6.4 million views
  3. Simone Biles: Rising — 4.7 million views
  4. Homicide: Los Angeles — 4.3 million views
  5. Supacell: Season 1 — 4.2 million views
  6. Vikings: Valhalla: Season 1 — 2.4 million views
  7. Too Hot to Handle: Season 6 — 2 million views
  8. Exploding Kittens: Season 1 — 1.9 million views
  9. Bridgerton: Season 3 — 1.9 million views
  10. Vikings: Valhalla: Season 2 — 1.9 million views

To learn more about some of this week’s most-watched series, you can also go deeper by checking out our previous coverage of several of the Netflix originals on this list — including new docuseries like Dick Wolf’s first true-crime foray Homicide: Los Angeles as well as Simone Biles: Rising which chronicles the star gymnast’s return to the Olympics.

Let’s turn next to the biggest Netflix TV release in the world, by far, at the moment.

Cobra Kai — #1 on Netflix

Part 1 (of the three-part!) final season of Cobra Kai, a Top 10 Netflix show in 83 countries this week, picks up with Cobra Kai eliminated from the Valley, and with the students and senseis needing to decide whether they’ll continue in the world championship of karate, the Sekai Taika.

“That takes things to the next level,” co-showrunner Hayden Schlossberg told Netflix’s Tudum site about the implications of that question mark hanging over the season as things get under way.

To a certain extent, the major characters start off in the process of a fresh start. That includes Martin Kove’s Cobra Kai founder John Kreese, who’s back in play after faking his death and busting out of prison. No surprise, in a behind-the-scenes set video from February, Kove hinted at “lots of surprises” in the new season. Adds Xolo Maridueña, who plays Miguel Diaz: “It’s gonna be a banger.”

Based on the Netflix viewership total that the show is already racking up this week, it looks like he wasn’t kidding around.
