One of the most perfect settings for Billy Penn’s monthly trivia night was the Divine Lorraine, where we landed in August thanks to a partnership with the North Broad Renaissance.
Why? BP Quizzo tests your knowledge on Philly’s past, present, and future — and the historic building has a place in all of these.
Its past includes being the city’s first integrated hotel. After a major renovation, it’s presently a thriving Mint House Hotel. And its future looks bright, as Underground Concepts continues to develop dining and drinking establishments in the building.
The latest of these is called the annex., a restaurant and market with a full bar and gorgeous outdoor patio, where about 75 people gathered to answer 24 questions about everything Philly.
Throughout the evening, competition was fierce among the 13 teams as they enjoyed food from former chef Natalie Maronski. At the end of three rounds, two groups had gotten the most questions correct: My Momma Made Me and Broad Street Broads both notched a 17/24.
We put up a tiebreaker question, and the latter team took home the top prize of a $50 gift card to Underground Concepts, which also runs broad hall., the daily., and foundation.
