Setting your business’s holiday and special hours on Yelp

When your business hours are different than normal, you can adjust those specific days and hours of operation on Yelp. These adjusted hours will appear on your Yelp Business Page, helping consumers see when you’re open (but regularly wouldn’t be)—like the early morning hours of Black Friday—and when you’re closed, such as for a staff offsite.

This shows customers that you’re making the extra effort to extend hours for their convenience; and you’ll avoid any unhappy customers who didn’t realize you were closed, such as on a holiday.

How to add special hours on Yelp

To update these hours, log in to your Yelp for Business account (on desktop or the Yelp for Business app), go to the Business Information tab (Biz Info on the app), and scroll down to “Add special hours” (under “Operation hours”). You can choose from the suggested holidays or add custom days.

On each day, you can:

  • Verify you’re open or closed as usual on the suggested holidays
  • Set special hours to show you’re only open during a certain time period(s)
  • Mark your business as closed for the entire day

Special hours are set on a day-by-day basis, so add each day where your operating hours will differ from those regularly listed on Yelp.

Once your special hours are saved, you’ll be able to see them in two places.

      1. Within your Yelp for Business account, the section will be titled “Upcoming special hours,” and each adjusted day will be listed. This can be edited at any time.

      2. Yelp users will see a special note at the top of your Yelp Business Page and within your hours section.

Pro tip: While you’re logged in, double check that your regular operating hours are up to date too.

How to set your business as by appointment only

If your open hours are dictated by scheduled appointments, you can let customers know in your “Amenities and more” section within the Business Information tab. Click edit, scroll down to “Services,” check yes next to “Is by appointment only,” and hit save.

Be sure to set your regular hours to the time frame(s) you’re open to taking appointments so customers have a good idea of their scheduling options.

Note that the “Is by appointment only” option is only available for select categories. For example, businesses under the Beauty & Spas category will see it, while restaurants will not. The complete business category list can help you better identify your business to customers looking for the products and services you provide.
