Today is National Indigenous Peoples Day, a time to honour and celebrate the heritage, resilience, and rich diversity of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. The art, traditions, cultures, and contributions of Indigenous Peoples have largely shaped who we are today. In honour of this significant day, #SyscoCanada welcomed special guest speaker, Susan Aglukark, who performed Nomad, a 60-minute speaking and singing presentation of Canadian Inuit history. We thank Susan and our colleague resource group, Circle, for bringing us togther and for this inspirational and educational session. As we practice active listening and learning, we continue our path of reconciliation and emphasize our commitment to building a more inclusive environment for all. #NationalIndigenousPeoplesDay2024 #NIPD2024

Each June, we kick-off #Pride season across the country – honouring, celebrating, and learning more about the contributions of 2SLGBTQ+ Canadians. In celebration of Pride season, today, we raised the Progress Pride Flag at #Sysco sites across the country for the fourth consecutive year, emphasizing our efforts to champion equal rights for Sysco Canada’s diverse colleague and customer population and the communities we serve. As Roger Francis, President of Sysco International Americas shared this morning, “Sysco colleagues consists of people from all walks of life, all backgrounds, and various lived experiences – and what makes the Sysco community so special is that we appreciate this, we’re inspired by this, and we get stronger because of this. As we raise this Pride flag in Toronto, we know we’re raising flags across Canada to represent and support everyone. We are better together. Happy Pride!” Throughout this month, #SyscoCanada’s colleague resource group, Spectrum, have planned learning opportunities and celebrations, including a speaker event featuring Celeste Trianon on how to combat anti-trans hate, and a Canada-wide Pride Guide. Stay tuned for more!
