Jamie Sells More than "Cook Books" He Sells Motivation to Even Desire Cooking
Recently, I bought three of Jamie Oliver‘s cookbooks because he was doing some wild demonstration on Facebook. He had mentioned one of his new books was Five Ingredients , Mediterranean Quick and Easy Food that definitely appealed to me. Only five? I think the Mediterranean looks more tasty but I'm still glad I bought both versions. The books are solid, heavy, four color, easy to keep open, and ever so entertaining. Definitely VALUE driven! A lot of bang for the buck and books that can withstand time.Once on Amazon, I ended up ordering three books of Jamie Oliver’s. I had a hard time picking between many of them so I splurged and bought three cool looking books written by Jamie Oliver. I’ve always adored Jamie since the first time I saw him in London a few decades ago and I noticed he worked very hard to keep the big networks away from owning him and fat cats that want to steal the profit off artists like Jamie, usually ending up owning the artist own catalog. I really admired him for not taking big money and keeping his focus on his own interest such as revamping the London school system food where he made global awareness that school food does not have to suck or cost more. When his books arrived I thumbed through a few of them and I realized quickly, Jamie Oliver does not write “just” cookbooks. He doesn’t just sell recipes, he sells entire lifestyles, purity, happiness, and the reader inadvertently learns how to handle that asparagus, or garlic, how to store it, and things we never really think much about. And he does not use very many words actually to get the point across.Just from the five minute quick and easy food book I learned he truly can take the most pathetic refrigerator of a bachelor or bachelorette that can contain only old Parmesan cheese from a party, mushrooms that have been sitting in the back of the fridge for a month, cloves of garlic that do not yet have a destination, and fresh sage from perhaps a garden whip them together, bake them for 30 minutes at 400 degrees and transform these ingredients, into a beautiful roasted mushroom garlic side dish!I am caring for a person that needs to eat 6000 calories a day. That is a challenge and I’m a busy author myself. But I love this person and he hast to eat 6000 cal a day which is almost like eating every hour on the hour. It was a stroke. They blew up his pituitary gland and for some reason his body metabolizes at the speed of light. He’s actually underweight because it’s just really hard to eat 6000 calories a day. Thank you, Oliver. I’ll be using your books basically exclusively to help my friend eat, eat and eat some more! Deborah Dolen ~ Author

Love the recipes, this cook book is full of beautiful photos and easy instructions. I have another Jamie Oliver cookbook and I’m delighted by the consistency of his philosophy. Delicious healthy food focused on quality ingredients. Not too fussy! There are some different names we use in the US, but the photos make it clear what ingredients the recipe is calling for. I’ve never seen so many creative poultry recipes in my life! That alone is inspiring! The veg chapter is fantastic. You can easily focus on a plant based diet with this cook book too! My only complaint is that the book arrived slightly damaged, the title page has a crease in it. I goober my cookbooks, so I kept it. I was disappointed my new book came with damage from Amazon.

i love Jaime Oliver- so i bought the book. so far i've made the pesto bowtie pasta- easy and delicious. After going thru the entire book, i was able to mark out a few recipes that i will try. During my perusing thru the book, i've noticed he is using ALOT of beans; kidney beans, white beans, beans beans beans in the recipes. IF you are not a lover of beans, i dont know if you will find this book altogether a good one. I myself do not use beans in my recipes, and will simply suplement w/ other 'sides'...but dang- there is ALOT of beans being used in the book.

I do want to start off by saying that this is a very beautiful cookbook with a gorgeous layout of pictures for each recipe! All of these recipes look absolutely delicious and very healthy as well. However, this comes down to me being disappointed in the fact that a bulk of the ingredients were items that are not easily found or carried in our local grocery stores and markets. One factor for me is that I live in the South (Tennessee) and we do not have easy access to some of these ingredients that may be found more easily in the Northeastern or Western areas of the United States. There are several cheeses, pastes, spices, fruits (passion fruit) , and misc ingredients that I have never heard of or able to find in order to construct these recipes. Again, this is a very nice and beautiful cookbook that is loaded with many delicious recipes but it just wasn't a good fit for 'me' due to the difficulty in finding the ingredients. I am sharing so that others may know that this could possibly be a struggle for them as well.

This is not what I was hoping for. I’m allergic to all mammal meat (alpha gal syndrome), yes it’s a real thing. I had a couple of issues with the book. 1) difficult to source some of the spice blends for a 1/4 tsp in the recipe. Maybe in a major city but not in St Augustine. 2) I bought the book because it had dedicated chapters to fish and shellfish. Unfortunately, the fish chapter was a few variations on a theme, nothing notable. Also, the shellfish chapter was equally disappointing. Surely there is a cookbook out there that has budget friendly seafood and fish recipes.
