Usher Drama Series Inspired By His Music In Works At UCP

A drama series inspired by the music of Grammy winner Usher about Black love in Atlanta is in development at UCP.

Per the official logline, the Untitled Usher Project is a series about Black love in Atlanta and individuals looking to find a place to call home. The series will explore music, style, sex, romance and secrets that threaten to tear relationships apart.

Usher will executive produce the series with Selwyn Seyfu Hinds (Washington Black) and attorney/producer Kenny Meiselas via his KMei Productions. UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, is the studio.

“My 30-year catalog has resonated with so many people no matter where they were in their lives,” Usher said in a statement. “I’m happy to be working with UCP to bring the music to life. I hope the series resonates with you the way my music continues to.”

Usher is coming off his halftime performance at Super Bowl LVIII. He recently wrapped his two-year Las Vegas residency and is set for his next tour, Past Present Future, which kicks off August 20 in Washington, D.C.
