Rick Klein Named ABC News’ Washington, D.C. Bureau Chief

Rick Klein has been named vice president and Washington, D.C. bureau chief for ABC News.

Klein will succeed Jonathan Greenberger, who departed in April for a new role at Politico.

Klein will oversee bureau operations and manage news teams in D.C., including for breaking news and special events. He will oversee all political coverage, including This Week with George Stephanopoulos.

Klein joined ABC News in 2007, and most recently has been political director.

His years of guiding our coverage of the biggest political news events, including five presidential elections, and providing critical analysis across ABC News’ programs and platforms are invaluable to our exceptional team and viewers.”

Klein will report to OConnell until a new president of ABC News is named.

Before becoming political director, Klein was senior Washington editor for World News with Diane Sawyer and was the primary author of the daily political tipsheet The Note. He also hosted Top Line, a streaming political program, and co-anchored the network’s digital election coverage in 2008 along with Sam Donaldson. He also co-hosted the podcast Powerhouse Politics and Capital Games.
