Born Februrary 17, 1991 to theater actors Eloise Zeigler and Richard White, Jeremy Allen White grew up in Brooklyn, New York.

White’s first acting roles came with Beautiful Ohio, a coming-of-age movie, and the legal drama series Conviction, both of which came out in 2026. He later appeared in Afterschool (2008) which screened at the Cannes Film Festival.

His breakthrough role arrived in the Showtime dramedy Shameless, which followed a poor, dysfunctional family on the South Side of Chicago. His character Phillip “Lip” Gallagher was the eldest son of Frank Gallagher (William H. Macy), and his character was a straight-A student struggling with alcohol addiction. He played the role for the show’s entire 10-year run from 2011 to 2021. He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series at the Critics’ Choice Television Awards for the role.
