‘Smile 2’ Trailer: Naomi Scott’s Pop Star Terrorized By Smiling Faces In Parker Finn’s Paramount Sequel

Paramount on Tuesday debuted the first trailer for Smile 2, Parker Finn’s follow-up to his surprise 2022 horror hit Smile, which follows a new set of characters within the same universe.

Directed by Finn from his own script, the sequel follows Skye Riley (Naomi Scott), a global pop sensation about to embark on a new world tour, who begins experiencing increasingly terrifying and inexplicable events. Overwhelmed by the escalating horrors and the pressures of fame, Skye is forced to face her dark past to regain control of her life before it spirals out of control.

Also starring Rosemarie DeWitt, Kyle Gallner, Lukas Gage, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Peter Jacobson, Raúl Castillo, Dylan Gelula, and Ray Nicholson, the film is produced by Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey, Isaac Klausner, Finn, and Robert Salerno.

Initially intended for a streaming release on Paramount+, Smile went theatrical in September 2022 after positive test screenings and wound up coming in as one of the highest-grossing horror films of the year with a worldwide gross of over $217 million. Inspired by Finn’s 2020 short film Laura Hasn’t Slept, which won the Special Jury Recognition award at South by Southwest, and marking his feature directorial debut, the original film starred Sosie Bacon as Dr. Rose Cotter, a therapist who starts experiencing terrifying occurrences after witnessing a bizarre, traumatic incident involving a patient. As the horror escalates, she must confront her past to survive and escape the chilling curse.

Others in the cast included Jessie T. Usher, Kyle Gallner, Rob Morgan, Kal Penn, and Caitlin Stasey.
