The Population of the United States, 1790-2006
| The table below presents annual estimates of the population of the Unites States from 1790 to 2006. There are three versions of population presented. Which one is most appropriate depends on what the user needs. The first is the resident population that includes only those living in the states of the country. It does not include those living in territories or overseas. The second is the resident population plus armed forces overseas. The third series is the civilian resident population only. These numbers were put together by James C. Riley of Indiana University and Samuel H.Williamson, Senior Editor of EH.Net. Sources are given in the notes at the bottom of the table. |
