Best Movie Directors • William Friedkin
William Friedkin is a chameleon in choice of genres, though he does have a signature directing style.
He followed up one of the best crime films, The French Connection, in 1971, with the greatest horror film of all time, The Exorcist in 1973.
The former won Best Picture and Best Director (among others), the latter earned nominations in the same two categories (among others).
My Oscar Book
Sadly, his most recent work hasn’t been up to his level of 1970s movies.
But, occasionally, a good Friedkin movie, such as Watch Bug, would appear among many mediocre (or below) efforts.
