Quinta Brunson wants Daniel Radcliffe to play Mr. Johnson's son on Abbott Elementary

"There's no rhyme or reason," Brunson tells EW of her wild idea.

Abbott Elementary almost became a school for witchcraft and wizardry.

While sitting down with EW for our Around the Table series, the sitcom's creator and star Quinta Brunson revealed that she had once pitched having Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe guest star on the show, specifically as the son of school janitor Mr. Johnson (William Stanford Davis).

Now, you might be scratching your head as to how exactly that might work, but Brunson says that was the point. "I love Daniel Radcliffe," she explains. "He's a very good, sweet guy, and a friend of mine. For some reason in the room we were like, what if Daniel Radcliffe was Mr. Johnson's son? And there's no rhyme or reason. It's so dumb. And not like Daniel Radcliffe as somebody, like Daniel Radcliffe [himself] is Mr. Johnson's son."

Radcliffe, who worked opposite Brunson in both Weird: The Al Yankovic Story and Miracle Workers, has also expressed a desire to work with Brunson. On the Golden Globes red carpet, he admitted he'd love to star in a rom-com with her.

But it's not just Radcliffe who the cast would like to see turn up. During the Around the Table interview, the ensemble threw out a bunch of brilliant suggestions, from Solange as a potential family member for Gregory (Tyler James Williams) to Marla Gibbs as Mr. Johnson's mom.

"We've talked about the silliest people playing your mom," Brunson told Davis in response to his suggestion. "We were like, 'What if his mom was Niecy Nash?' Clearly she's younger but we're just not going to talk about it. We really have to reel it in [in the writers' room]."

There's also the potential for two major season 2 guest stars to return: Ayo Edebiri and Taraji P. Henson, who play Janine's sister and mom respectively. "We love them," says Brunson. "They love us. They're both very busy people now. We have definitely have plans to bring them back. For Janine, it's really helpful to see her family. It really helps paint the picture of who she is."

"Taraji's very sweet and has told me very personally she will move mountains, but I don't think she understands how many mountains she would have to move," she continues. "So, if it works. But these are very good problems to have. And same thing with Ayo."

Other suggestions from the rest of the cast include Joe Pesci for Melissa's (Lisa Ann Walters) dad, Halle Berry as Mr. Johnson's girlfriend (that is Davis' idea, naturally), Pedro Pascal, and Pretty Jesus (that's Jared Leto in Sheryl Lee Ralph speak).

"Diana Ross as the glamorous mother I've always tried to impress," pitches Janelle James, but Chris Perfetti drops the mic with his reflection that "Meryl does TV now." That she does.
