Argylle stars tease about '11 twists': 'Mostly, movies are more basic than this'

"It is definitely a bit of a puzzle and a Rubik's Cube trying to figure out where we're at," says Bryce Dallas Howard.

Whatever you think you know about Argylle, the movie with an A-list ensemble top-lined by Bryce Dallas Howard and Henry Cavill, prepare to have the rug pulled out from under you multiple times over.

Director Matthew Vaughn and his cast — including Sam Rockwell, John Cena, Ariana DeBose, Samuel L. Jackson, and Bryan Cranston — assembled for EW's Around the Table video series.

"There are 11 twists in the movie, right? I think it's 11 twists in the movie," Howard says. "So it is definitely a bit of a puzzle and a Rubik's Cube trying to figure out where we're at, because you also don't film these movies in order. It's like, 'Wait! What's happened that we haven't shot yet, that's going to impact this moment here?' So it was definitely a juggle but totally fun, like really fun. Mostly, movies are way more basic than this."

"You'll get nothing from me," Cena jokes about the movie's many spoilers.

Argylle stars Howard as Elly Conway, the reclusive, cat-loving author behind a series of best-selling espionage books about a secret agent named Argylle (whom she envisions as Cavill). Elly becomes a target herself when the plots of her novels start to mirror real-life events, almost as if she's predicting actual spy activity. So Aiden (Rockwell), a cat-allergic agent, comes to her aid.

"I genuinely saw the film and was like, 'Yeah!'" DeBose exclaims as she throws her fist in the air.

"Yeah, I was screaming the whole time. It's like five movies in one, and it flies in the best way!" Howard responds.
