Ariana Grande announces new collaboration with 'lifelong inspiration' Mariah Carey: 'Dream come true'

Two whistle notes are better than one. That’s the saying, right?

If not, Ariana Grande and Mariah Carey just might make it so. The pop stars have joined forces again for a new collaboration: a remix of Grande’s sassy single “Yes, and?”

Fans already had their suspicions that a joint project was on the way after the artists sneakily changed their profile pictures to matching eye photos.

“I cannot believe the words i am typing,” Grande wrote Wednesday on Instagram. “Yes, and? Remix feat the one and only, queen of my heart and lifelong inspiration @mariahcarey is out this friday!!!!!!!!!!!”

She continued, “There truly are no words that suffice. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this dream come true and for sprinkling your brilliance and magic on my little song @mariahcarey. It means more to me than i could ever possibly articulate and i cannot wait for everyone to hear this ! i love you eternally!!!!!!!”

This won’t be the first time the Grammy winners have harmonized together. Carey, whom Grande often praises as her longtime idol, previously enlisted her for a music video of “All I Want for Christmas.” Years later, they secured Jennifer Hudson to record a girl-group-inspired remix of Carey’s 2010 Christmas tune “Oh Santa.” And in December, the trio reunited on stage at one of Carey’s Madison Square Garden holiday concerts to perform it.

"Yes, and," the lead single off Grande's upcoming album, Eternal Sunshine, is a not-so-subtle response to the public who have dissected and commented on her personal life. After making headlines throughout 2023 following her high-profile divorce from Dalton Gomez and new romance with her Wicked costar Ethan Slater, the pop star is fed up with the constant coverage of her relationships. In the music video for the track, she is shown performing before a frenzy of journalists, critics, and shady fans and brazenly singing the lyric, “Why do you care so much whose... I ride?" 

The remix of 'Yes, and,' featuring Carey, is out this Friday.
