General Hospital's Best, Days of Our Lives' Worst

In 1995, we saw the first major gay character on a soap in nearly a decade (All My Children), the rebirth of Loving as The City, the return of three-time Emmy winner Kim Zimmer to Guiding Light, and Days of Our Lives‘ startling firing of Robert Kelker-Kelly. All this change aside, it was easy to pick the year’s best and worst moments. Best: General Hospital‘s achingly bittersweet teen AIDS plot, with Michael Sutton as (the now late) Stone and Kimberly McCullough as (the now HIV-positive) Robin. Sutton, once best known for having great hair, was a marvel. Worst: Hands down, the DOOL demonic possession. That Deidre Hall could spout such insipid dialogue while keeping a straight face was itself a marvel.
