Behind the scenes of the 'Austin Powers' sequel

He’s baaack. Mike Myers and his gang return in ”Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me,” and audiences can look forward to the same silly punchlines, running gags, and bad teeth as the original. But there are still a few things you don’t know about the international man of mystery’s latest adventure, so the movie’s stars gave EW Online a peek behind the scenes of the self-proclaimed ”second hottest sequel of the summer.”

WHY YOU’LL SEE EVEN MORE OF AUSTIN’S CHEST HAIR THIS TIME AROUND If you just can’t get enough of his luxurious chest tresses, brace yourselves. Throughout the opening of the sequel, Mike Myers frolics through a hotel wearing little more than a crooked smile and geek glasses. Why? Stripping down gets Myers’ mojo working. ”I am the happiest naked person in the world,” says the 36-old SNL alum. ”The second I get in the house, I’m naked or in my undies.” Of course, Myers didn’t expose all to cast and crew. ”I wore a little device that covered my bits and pieces,” he says. ”Sadly, it was very little. I’m not going to lie to you.”

HOW HEATHER GRAHAM GOT TURNED ON Playing Felicity Shagwell, the American secret agent eager to shag very well with Austin, Heather Graham had more than excessive chest hair to worry about. Called on to seduce Fat Bastard, a drooling, 500-pound Scottish spy played by Myers in a latex suit, the 29-year-old actress was faced with the least sexy costar since Jabba the Hutt. ”The makeup job was amazing,” says Graham. ”He had moles with hair sticking out of them, and a hairy butt, and even a male genital organ, but it was so covered in fat you could barely see it.” Plus, set designers stocked the bed with greasy turkey bits and old bread to maximize the puke potential. Still, the girlfriend of actor/director Ed Burns admits, ”It was really gross, but it kind of turned me on.” Sounds like one lucky couple’s going to be spending some quality time at KFC this summer.

WHY SIZE DOESN’T MATTER Verne Troyer, the two-foot eight-inch tall actor who plays Mini-Me, the creepy, pint-size clone of Dr. Evil, not only manages to steal the show from actors of greater, uh, stature, but he got the girls too. Even though the 30-year-old was bald, covered in chalky makeup, and wearing a Nehru jacket throughout the shoot, Troyer managed to outshine costar Seth Green in the babe-magnet department. ”I couldn’t believe how the women were into him,” says the ”Buffy the Vampire Slayer” star. ”Here’s this little bald guy, and the women were like, ‘Swoon!’ It was making me mad. I was like, ‘What’s up? I’m over here, I’ve got hair, and I’m at least a little taller.”’ Still, Troyer worked his charms on Green, convincing him to chauffeur him around the set in a speeding golf cart until ”we had security chasing us.”

HOW ROB LOWE CHANNELED ROBERT WAGNER In the film, Rob Lowe tackles Robert Wagner’s role, Number Two, circa 1969. Lowe’s imitation of RJ may be dead-on, but don’t be too impressed. Lowe claims he’s had ample opportunity to perfect his shtick while hanging out at Wagner’s house during his young, randy years. ”Whenever RJ introduces me to anyone, he says, ‘Do you know Rob? He spent an awful lot of time sniffing around my daughters,”’ says Lowe. Let’s hope he didn’t have that video camera with him at the time.
