''Pasadena'' -- Diane Keaton will exec-produce this soap in 2001

Move over Aaron Spelling. The new titan of prime-time soaps just may be… Diane Keaton. As part of a TV deal with production company Brillstein-Grey, the Annie Hall alum will exec-produce Pasadena, a one-hour sudser slated for Fox’s 2001 schedule. ”We pitched it as ‘Knots Landing meets American Beauty‘ — a psychotic soap opera,” says creator Mike White, who penned the indie film Chuck & Buck. White has no word on casting but did explain the allure of Pasadena, known till now as the relatively unglamorous home of the Rose Bowl. ”I grew up there,” he says. ”And Diane grew up in Highland Park, outside Pasadena. It’s a town of old money looking down on entertainment people as whores.”
