Burning Question: 'Panic Room'

Q While ordering pizza in Panic Room, Jodie Foster cites what sounds like an actual phone number. Was it for real?

A It rings true. The digits belong to Patsy’s Pizzeria on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, where Panic is set. ”Patsy’s was where my son and his kindergarten class had their pizza party,” says screenwriter-producer David Koepp. He and director David Fincher ”hate that 555 thing,” which isn’t even a safe fake-out anymore. (Demand for numbers has forced the North American Numbering Plan Administration to begin doling out 555’s, says a rep.) Patsy’s owner hasn’t seen any uptick in calls. But pizza lovers take note: That Patsy’s doesn’t deliver.
