CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION

Mystery scribe Max Allan Collins may have gotten a profile boost when his Road to Perdition found Hollywood success, but that doesn’t mean he’s haughtily dropped ”comics writer” from his resume. His work here, a five-issue spin-off book focusing on a Jack the Ripper copycat case, has several nice bits capturing the show’s more-deductive-than-thou dialogue. And of course there are the requisite gross-outs, capably rendered by Gabriel Rodriguez and, in stylish painted flashbacks, by Ashley Wood. All in all, a title worth investigating.
