CD sales keep sliding, but 50 Cent is an exception. The rapper’s ”Get Rich or Die Tryin”’ has sold 4.8 million copies this year, making it the top-selling CD of 2003 (so far), according to the New York Daily News. Overall, music sales are down 8.1 percent, the newspaper reports. Other top sellers include Norah Jones, whose Grammy-dominating ”Come Away With Me” moved 3.8 million to hit No. 2, and Linkin Park, whose ”Meteora” sold 2.1 million, hitting No. 3. The scandal-plagued R. Kelly is at No. 4 with ”Chocolate Factory” (1.9 million) and the equally controversial Dixie Chicks’ ”Home” is at No. 5 (1.8 million).

Kid Rock’s ”Cocky,” which was a flop until the Sheryl Crow duet ”Picture” saved it, is the year’s No. 6 best-selling album, moving 1.6 million copies. Erstwhile Christian rockers Evanescence are at No. 7 with ”Fallen” (1.6 million), while the ”Chicago” soundtrack is at No. 8 (1.4 million). Rounding out the top 10 are Avril Lavigne’s ”Let Go” (1.5 million), and Celine Dion’s ”Let Go” (1.5 million). ”American Idol” winner Kelly Clarkson came close: Her ”Thankful” is at No. 13, with 1.17 million sold. Beat that, Clay and Ruben.
